I've been plugging some numbers into a spreadsheet and coming up with some interesting stats.
Including FBS teams...
BYU's opponents are averaging just over 8 offensive drives that don't end in time running out of a half/game (and 2 drives that do end in time mercifully stopping the drive). Of those 8 drives, BYU is giving up points on 5 of them. BYU forces punts on 2, and gets a turnover on 1. (Averages)
Meanwhile, BYU is averaging 10 drives and getting points on 1.3 drives per game. BYU punts 5.7 of those drives and turns the ball over 3 of the 10. 0.3 drives per game end in missed field goals.
BYU's opponents average crossing the 50 yard line 8 of 10 drives. They average nearly 41 yards per possession and run 7 plays during each possession.
BYU on the other hand averages crossing the 50 yard line 2 out of 10 drives with an average of 16 yards per drive in 4.8 plays.
Opponents are averaging 24 first downs per game, BYU is averaging 10.
