BYU picked #9 in SI top 25 for next year
Nice to get this kind of respect at the end of the season. Makes me very excited about next year.

9. BRIGHAM YOUNG: If shooting guard Jimmer Fredette rejoins Michael Loyd Jr. in the backcourt after testing the NBA draft waters, BYU will be the best team west of the Rockies for the second straight season, and a sleeper pick for the Final Four

A lot of the nation knows about the flash in the pan and weenie coach/players the Lobos have. They'll have to earn respect again.1967cougar wrote:No mention of New mexico in his top 25........interesting.

They're getting ready to hold open tryouts to fill their potential SEVEN vacancies. Word is that Marshall Henderson could be transferring to Texas Tech.

Andy Katz wasn't so nice (or credible). #21 after New Mexico (20).

Fox Sports has BYU at 10, UNLV at 25, no mention of New Mexico.

They did miss the part about Tyler Haws leaving on a mission.10. As long as Jimmer Fredette (pictured) returns – which he should – coach Dave Rose and the Cougars will be the clear-cut favorites in the Mountain West. They lose just one starter, Chris Miles, and sixth man Jonathan Tavernari – but still have Fredette, Tyler Haws and Jackson Emery – their top three scorers. Plus, 6-foot-9 Chris Collinsworth returns from a two-year mission after playing nearly 16 minutes a game as a freshman.

I think about 15 is a pretty fair pre season ranking, if jimmer comes back.

Jimmer is going to be the reason BYU can get a top 4 seed next year. The MWC has NEVER had a player who will have as much national pre-season hype as Jimmer has/will be garnering.
