I feel a sale coming on. If we play this poorly next week - fire sale.

Yes. And your prognostications will be vindicated; as will my vote against joining a BCS conference because BYU will replicate what Utah is experiencing the past two years. losing seasons.

BYU football tickets are soooooo cheap compared to other schools. We all claim to want to be like the big boys, yet we don't want the whole package -- just some a la carte big name games, national rankings and respect.

It doesn't work like that guys. If you want to be mentioned in the same sentence as teams on our schedule, like Texas and ND and Wisconsin then BYU has to play the game the way they do, both on and off the field (except for the cheating part). That means BYU needs $$$$$$. A LOT of $$$$$. And BYU needs to get that $$$$ from TV partners, from overpriced shirts in the Bookstore, from donors, from Cougar Tail  , and from market value ticket prices. If your station in life is such that the success of BYU football has priced you out of the stadium then life sucks but that is the life of competitive sports and its sure a lot better than the alternative of paying $29 for a WAC conference game.

As for having some subsidized seats for special groups (like students) that is actually easily accomplished by simply requiring ID at the gate. This is what I had to do at Michigan when entering the stadium with a student ticket. I could buy student season tickets for about $400 I think it was. That was a phenomenal price. And to discourage students from just buying tickets to sell, they required student ID to accompany student tickets. So maybe legacy seat folk could get a legacy ID card to go along with cheap tickets to keep them from selling them. Because the truth is the BYU SHOULD MAKE THE PROFIT on ticket sales since the item for sale is BYU's. If a ticket is worth $500 then BYU should sell it for $500 -- not for $200 to some tool who just wants to turn around and pocket the extra $300.

Now, with that said I was at Michigan when Ohio St was #1 and Michigan was #2 and I had tickets to the game. Student tickets. What did I do? I sold them of course!!! for $1,200 and bought a big phat TV and watched the game at home on my new enormouse TV that I got to keep for every game thereafter. Turns out Michigan lost, so it was a great move by me. I was fortunate and found some buyers that had 'access' to student ID so they could use the tickets. Otherwise I never could have sold them for that much. I'm pretty sure the fake ID racket in southeastern Michigan had more business for student ID that year than it did for over 21 drivers licenses.

BYU should charge whatever people are willing to pay and can afford. While I do feel bad if a true fan can't afford tickets to a game, if 65,000 other fans can afford the high-priced tickets.......then BYU should sell to those fans and make every effort to ensure that the other fans can watch the game on TV.

Wait...

That's....

Exactly....

What.....

They've....

Done.....

Now, as for the issue of honoring someone at half-time and not giving that someone and his/her family at least half a dozen tickets -- that's just flat out lame. I'm really sorry to hear about that. Sorry for the people who are being 'honored' and dishonored at the same time. And Sorry for whoever it is at BYU that made that decision and is obviously a tool.

I think 2 Texas tickets cost us about $220. Good for BYU.

Of course, I'll be taking my kids to the MTSU and ISU games instead.
Exactly. I'll be watching on ESPN.

Elder Mars

Though we are not quite to Idaho State week on the free ticket thread - and even though we once butted heads on here for a solid two years or so - if you have a really cute neighbor, niece, SIL, cousin, sister, or friend age 20-26, fun, temple worthy - I could get you a ticket for her and two extra tickets so you could keep a close eye on things. Or 3-4 seats if she prefers a non-football date.

Just show up as Elder Mars or 2013 Mars. I like those guys.

A non-football date now for 4 ISU tickets to be used later.

Offer is open to others, too.

Perhaps, given all of the recruiting updates you have provided CC and CB over the years, somebody will PM me and offer up their first born child on your behalf.

But, seriously, I hate to see tickets go unused and I love little kids that love BYU.

It seems the only way to come out ahead is to get season tickets.
Of course if your on a limited budget than your out of luck..
Stupid big business screwing over the little guy. Where's Obama at to save us ;)

Never thought of Obama. Free tickets for everyone - unless you make more than he makes. That would sell out the stadium. Let's expand to 110, 000 seats. Bigger than The Big House.
