Explanations for the CFP Committee's apathy?
I can only think of three: 1. These people honestly think BYU is not better than the teams above them; 2. They represent the P5, and so will only allow non-P5 access to the money when doing so will cause them a major blow to credibility (and BYU does not move the needle on that); 3. Wyoming connecti...

Re: NEW 2020 schedule
So long as BYU feels it can match the COVID protocols of the ACC and SEC, then if the BIG 12 and Nebraska want to play, and the ACC and SEC keep going, we need to play. Its a chance to make alliances that could lead to conference membership. If I'm Holmoe, I call the BIG10 and PAC-12 folks and get t...

Re: BYU fan questions institution's commitment to big time--but what about them?
No, but looking at average attendance over the last years of MWC and the years of independence, the MWC years were better attended. This year may have stopped that downward trend, but as a whole, having meaningful games in November offsets any loss in earlier game attendance. When's the last time we...

Re: BYU fan questions institution's commitment to big time--but what about them?
Maybe a better way to look at this is the following: On each of the following, which is better, Independence or MWC? (my opinion) Revenue: Independence Home game Attendance: MWC Recruiting: MWC (agree this has some to do with Coaches, but Mendenhall coached in both and was better early) Exposure: In...

Re: BYU fan questions institution's commitment to big time--but what about them?
Your statements answer your questions as to why leaving the conference was a mistake. Memphis lost big, but IN THE COTTON BOWL with a payout in the millions. BSU only went to THE LAS VEGAS BOWL and played a Power 5 team. BYU's last three bowl games? the Poinsettia against Wyoming, the Potato against...

Re: BYU fan questions institution's commitment to big time--but what about them?
If you were an LDS kid who had one or two football offers from Power 5 schools, and/or Boise State, why in the world would you even consider BYU? If you were a legacy, or had a long time connection to the school, maybe. But without those kids, or even 60-75% of the LDS kids who are Power 5 quality, ...

Re: Kalani Extended through 2023
I see this as a result of the current situation more than as a reward for Sitake. BYU's nonsense rule about the Head Coach having to be a Church member limits the pool of candidates so much that there is really no option. Lance Anderson is a nice coach, but has he really got more going for him that ...
