Re: A recent recruiting miss
"We have no shooting forwards. We need a 6' 7 - 8" wing that can shoot, preferably mid-range shots. We don't need another 6' 2 - 6" guard that likes to bomb threes. We have 6 of those already." I agree with you again Gunk. I think we lost some games because of these guys bombing...

Re: Jake Toolson transferring
Rose doesn't mind helping marginal players move on from the program to free up scholarships. I wish Jake the best. He's certainly had some struggles. Don't transfer to Utah. I really liked Jake and I don't think I would call him a marginal player. He was still a young player and developing his roll...

Re: 2017 Bracketology - No BYU
SMU 1st in WCC, 2nd in WCC Tourney (NIT quarterfinals) returns all five starters and the subs so it is understandable that they would be considered a strong candidate. Zags 2nd in WCC, 1st in WCC Tourney (NCAA Sweet Sixteen) lose Sabonis and Wilcher but return with Edwards, Perkins, McClellan and r...

Re: Early Thoughts on next year
I heard we are looking for a graduate transfer SF for next season. And where would that scholarship come from? Open scholarships are coming from 1 Cory Calvert (transfer), 2 Kyle Collinsworth, 3 Chase Fischer, and Zac Seljaas (mission). New players coming in needing scholarships are: 1 TJ Haws, 2 E...

Re: Early Thoughts on next year
Time for the Kaufusi experiment to end. We've seen some flashes of brilliance from him, but he hasn't consistently improved over 2 full seasons. Better to try to bring in a juco guy. I still want Kaufusi to succeed! He hasn't been detrimental to the team and I don't think we can say he's been a dis...

Re: Early Thoughts on next year
The class of Gavin Baxter, Connor Harding, and Yoeli Childs was kind of odd, because the different ranking they were getting from the 3 different main serves. Connor Harding 6' 6" 185 was rated in ESPN.com's Top 100 this last Summer at #99 (since then he is not in their Top 100). He is still a ...

Re: Early Thoughts on next year
I was thinking about this today... My projected starters are: PG- TJ Haws 6' 4" 175 SG- Nick Emery 6' 2" 185 SF- Elijah Bryant 6' 5" 210 PF- Kyle Davis 6' 8" 225, but could also see Payton Dastrup 6' 10" 230 taking this job C- Eric Mika 6' 10" 230 I've heard a lot of pe...

Re: 2016 BYU Coaching Staff
These kind of hires scare me. Crowtons teams the last few years of his tenure weren't exactly stellar. I don't remember if Empey was good or not, but geez, he's been out of coaching for 12 years. That doesn't speak well of him, in my opinion. Of course, my opinion doesn't necessarily mean a whole l...

Re: 4-3 vs. 3-4
If he can recruit the right guys, Sitake can run whatever defense he wants; every defense has it's advantages and disadvantages (I think I'd try to play to the strength of the players I can get and what my DC knows best). Correct. And I think BYU can recruit D-Lineman--that is not my long-term conc...
