Excerpt from Calgary Stampeders (Canadian Football League) team website:

Archibald and Tsoumpas were part of an offensive line that paved the way for Reynolds’ rushing title. The Stampeders also ranked third in the CFL with just 34 sacks allowed. Archibald is the Stampeders’ nominee for the Most Outstanding Lineman award while Tsoumpas is Calgary’s representative for Top Canadian.

Player Profile:
CAREER
Pro path

Calgary signed Archibald as a free agent on May 8, 2008. Following his career at BYU, Archibald signed as a free agent with the San Francisco 49ers in 2003. He joined the New Orleans Saints practice roster at the end of the same season and signed with the team in 2004. He was allocated to the NFL Europe’s Amsterdam Admirals in 2005 and later rejoined the Saints. He appeared in six NFL games and was primarily deployed on special teams. He spent 2006 on the New Orleans practice squad. Archibald attended training camp with the Saints in 2007 and played right guard during exhibition games but was released at the end of the pre-season.
2008

Archibald stepped in at left tackle and excelled after Antonio Hall injured his ankle in a July 24 contest against the Winnipeg Blue Bombers. Starting with an Aug. 2 home date against Saskatchewan, he made 12 consecutive starts until a bicep muscle injury forced him to sit out the regular-season finale. He returned for the playoffs and was solid in both the West Final and the Grey Cup game. Despite being one of three first-year starters on the offensive line, Archibald helped the Stamps rank second in the league in rushing yardage (2,422) and third in fewest sacks allowed (30).
2007

Archibald signed with the New Orleans Saints as a free agent on Feb. 16. He was waived on Sept. 1.
Career highlights

* Made his CFL debut on Aug. 2, 2008 against the Saskatchewan Roughriders
* Starter in both the ’08 West Final and Grey Cup game
* Won World Bowl XVIII in 2005 as member of the Amsterdam Admirals

College

Archibald attended Brigham Young University and played in 33 games, starting in 24. He earned All-Mountain West Conference honourable mention honours as a sophomore and second-team All-MWC honours as a junior. He was named MWC All-Academic team as a sophomore and a junior. Tabbed by the Football Writers of America as a candidate for the Outland Trophy as college’s best interior lineman prior to his senior season, Archibald instead suffered a fractured leg in pre-season practice and missed the entire campaign.
Notable

Archibald is married to wife Jodi and they are the proud parents of triplets, Tessa, Ashlyn and Kylee, who were born on Sept. 26, 2007. He lettered in football, basketball and track at Seaside High School in Oregon while maintaining a 3.9 grade-point average in his studies and was student body co-president as a high school senior. He served on a Latter-day Saints church mission in Tucson, Ariz.
