The offensive line protects Max at all. I know TCU's defense is good, but they were blowing through the o-line like they didn't exist. The few times Max had time to make a decision he made really good ones.
I know other things could have made the difference, and the defense certainly gave up some big plays, but really all of that could have been overcome if Max has the time he needs to pass.

If...
-Receivers get open and Max isn't too timid to throw them the ball.
-The officials call a fair game (pretty blatant favoritism).
-We catch the ball instead of getting a pick on our opening drive of the second half.
-Our defense doesn't get burned on trick plays and pump and go routes.
-Our D-line gets more penetration and a bigger push up front.

I'm no football genius by any stretch, but on at least one play I swear I saw three TCU defenders against one left tackle on a four or five man rush. How does that happen?
How often did TCU actually bring more than 5? When Hughes sacked Hall for the fumble he came nearly untouched around the corner, and it didn't seem it was because he was the 6th guy.

I noticed a couple of times during the night when the TCU defensive ends were lining up several yards down the line of scrimmage from the tackles. Like 5 yards further out. Normally this is great for an offensive line, but with Hughes speed he was able to rush into the backfield before the tackle could drop far enough to get in his way.CAFB_04-12 wrote:I'm no football genius by any stretch, but on at least one play I swear I saw three TCU defenders against one left tackle on a four or five man rush.
