Notre Dame does not want to join a football conference because of their tv contract. I propose that we add them to the MWC and allow them to keep their tv money.

According to ESPN, nothing could be farther from the truth--ND gets $9 million a year from TV and radio, while the Big 10 schools get about $20 million a year. Reading this article, it sounds like it's all about pride, tradition, and boosters:

I had been thinking the same thing but didn't know the exact numbers. Thank you for pointing this out.

Also, Big Ten schools share about $37MM in BCS money each year, while Notre Dame is only promised something like $2MM.
