How damaging will no football be next season to athletic departments. Some could get almost bankrupt. It would lead to slashing of budgets including for recruiting. It might actually help BYU.
This is the key quote ""If college football decides to only conference games, then the nation’s independents may need to take a sabbatical this season. Seven FBS programs, including BYU and Notre Dame, are not affiliated with a conference."
Maybe they say play 9 games. conferences with 8 games would need an additional game from the independents. The independents play each other once and we pick up 3 non conference games. Would the Utah game happen?

Some options that the ADs are considering.
1. A conference-only schedule.
2. A full, but divided, 12-game schedule.
3. Spring football schedule.

The ACC have said that they will re-structure their agreement with Notre Dame so that the latter will have as many ACC opponents as it needs.

Guys, I don't want to be a doomsdayer but IMO if BYU doesn't have a season this fall, we will not see football at BYU anymore. I don't think the brethren really want a football program anymore and this will be the excuse they need to cancel the sports programs at BYU.
