Re: UTSA Game 2020
Didn't get to see the game ... but the score and stats are not really surprising. KS has ALWAYS struggled getting the team up for games they "should" win ... and has always struggled with success (KS teams get cocky, lazy, ... call it whatever you want ... they choke when they are experiencing success).
VERY disappointing, but not surprising.

Haven't seen the game either, I plan on watching it tonight on BYUtv. I did listen to it on KSL radio though and the way that Wrubel described it, there was a bunch of sloppy play and mistakes. That has been missing this year. The team had been playing so clean and mistake free. Bad penalties, missed assignments, Sounds like our Oline couldn't pick up a blitz so Wilson was running around all game long trying to make plays. Plus according to Wrubel, UTSA was playing man press all game long and BYU just didn't adjust to it. Hopefully this wakes the team up and this is an anomaly and not the rule for the rest of the year.mtnradio wrote: ↑Sat Oct 10, 2020 6:16 pm Didn't get to see the game ... but the score and stats are not really surprising. Re: UTSA Game 2020
Just finished watching it. We looked slow out there. Lots of penalties.
UTSA had some speed coming off the edges and we seemed to struggle with that. Probably should have ran it a bit more in the first half.
Wilson was rushed more in this game than others. Some of his throws were off target.
I win is a win and hopefully this ugly win was a wake up call to the team. Gotta come out energized.
Also...is it a rule the ball has to be on a T when kicking?

Re: UTSA Game 2020
It appears to me that the answer is "No".
From the NCAAF rules themselves:
That's not to say it's not possible that there are conference rules which change that and which were agreed to be applied by the referees to the game today. It's also possible that the kicker/coach just changed their mind and it wasn't the referee telling them they couldn't do it.A free kick place kick is a kick by a player of the team in possession while
the ball is positioned on a tee or the ground. It may be controlled by a
teammate. The ball may be positioned on the ground and contacting the
tee.
A tee is a device that elevates the ball for kicking purposes. It may not
elevate the ball’s lowest point more than one inch above the ground.

Re: UTSA Game 2020
I watched the game. UTSA is a better team than advertised. They were not dominated on the line of scrimmage, although we ran the ball quite well. That said, our play was worse in this game. Penalties, blown coverages, and too much going through the motions hampered the team. I continue to be impressed with Wilson’s QB play. He is a changed player.

Re: UTSA Game 2020
UTSA played a lot of man-on-man. BYU has never been able to play effectively against man coverage because they can't practice against it.
