Ugh. If you love technical airplane insurance investigations, I guess. Just horrible for me though. I much preferred Prey (and Sphere, Congo, etc).hawkwing wrote: Airframe or whatever it was called was pretty good too.

I'm a big time travel fan and I loved "Timeline" by Chrichton and Lightning by Dean Koontz.
I also loved "I am Legend," it was differnet than (and even better than) the movie

I am Legend was pretty good. I did enjoy the movie too.
I thought the Harry Potter series was thoroughly enjoyable.
Also, if you haven't read the DIRK PITT (trade mark) adventures, you're missing out on a good time.

I actually quite enjoyed the first Dirk Pitt movie (Sahara with Matt McConoughy and Steve Zahn as Al Giordino), and I was disappointed when they didn't renew rights for the other books.kitic77 wrote:Also, if you haven't read the DIRK PITT (trade mark) adventures, you're missing out on a good time.

Re: Books to recommend
If you like fantasy you've got to try David Eddings. He has a series called the Belgariad and a follow up series called the Mallorean. Second only to Tolkien in my opinion.
They are a great read.
I'm also an Ender fan, like the rest of this forum.
To pass the time on the metro (30 min ride) into work I put all the Harry Potter books on my iphone. I don't know that I'd read them, but they are a fun listen. I tried "Harry Potter y la piedra filosofal" to work on my spanish but I just kept getting frustrated because I couldn't tell if my vocabulary sucks or if she was just making up stupid words again.

Re: Books to recommend
I'm going to go ahead and pimp John Grisham's latest--"Ford County."
It's not your usual Grisham for a number of reasons:
1) It's not a novel. It's a collection of short stories about folks in rural Ford County, Mississippi--where A Time to Kill was based.
2) Most of the stories are not law-driven/centric. They're stories about simple people dealing with complexities of life.
But, this is not "Painted House" part II. The first story had me laughing out loud--a story about 3 rednecks making an epic road trip to Memphis to donate blood for a buddy who might be injured badly. The short story format lets Grisham put his talent on display without worrying about character development and consistency, which is what killed his Painted House attempt at the great american novel.

Re: Books to recommend
How about Ernest Becker's books The denial of death, and Escape from Evil
Also, Brian Greene's Elegant Universe, and Fabric of the Cosmos
