sobriquet
so·bri·quet (soh-bruh-key, -kay)
n.
1. An affectionate or humorous nickname.
2. An assumed name.
Etymology
From French sobriquet, from soubriquet (chuck under the chin). Probably from the fact that calling by a nickname affords one to cozy up to someone and tap under the chin.
This got me to thinking, why would somebody put something under their chin, in this case, a chuck or a clamping device for holding a drill bit. Well, I looked up "chuck" and it also means "to pat or squeeze fondly or playfully, especially under the chin."

Punchinello(puhn-chuh-nel-oh)
–noun, plural -los, -loes.
1. a grotesque or absurd chief character in a puppet show of Italian origin: the prototype of Punch.
2. any similarly grotesque or absurd person or thing.
Origin:
1660–70; < It (Naples dial.) polecenella character in the puppet show, dim. of polecana turkey-cock chick < LL pullicenus, deriv. of L pullus pullet
Looks very similar to some fans I know, but my ex-bishop and TTT sure ain't one of them.
BTW, my ex-bishop was more than happy to accept a gallon of homemade ice cream to buoy up his spirits. I also find it rather humorous that his wife and his oldest son are big BYU fans.

Rumor has it that Todd Christensen frequents the "word of the day" thread before his MTN broadcasts.

circumlocution \sir-kuhm-loh-KYOO-shuhn\ noun
1 : the use of an unnecessarily large number of words to express an idea
2 : evasion in speech
Etymology: Middle English circumlocucyon, from Latin circumlocution-, circumlocutio, from circum- + locutio speech, from loqui to speak
Example: From what I understand, Todd has never been guilty of circumlocution nor being a sesquipedalian.
BTW, I met Todd back in the late 70's one time, he was with his beautiful wife, and I really enjoyed talking with him.
