I mostly agree. However, -4 is, well, dare I say as suckiest suck that ever sucked even compared to Heaps'? But yes, Riley brought heart and backbone and ribs and a bunch of "almosts".hawkwing wrote:Actually Heaps was far far worse than even Riley Nelson has been. The kid was a bad football player and his offense didn't win a single game when he was the starter and despite certain people's poor memories, he never played a good team, his best opponent was average at best. There's no chance we go bowling last year if Heaps doesn't get the bench, that's a simple fact.Raiderboy wrote:He salvaged the Utah State game, and proceeded to beat up on patsies. Riley didn't do any better this year, than Heaps did last year. And Riley didn't do any better last year against the patsies than Heaps did.byucougar1 wrote:Riley salvaged our season last year and rallied the troops with leadership and unity. End of story. This year we have not been Good - makeshift OL, loss of starting RB - Alisa and great backup-Hill, and injured Riley. Not sure Lark would have made a difference - disn't see anything special to show he would make a difference. It is what it is.

I've never heard of a player getting this much credit for a quarter and a half of football.
Riley Nelson's suckaage this year doesn't make Jake Heaps suckage last year any better.

Yes, -4 was pretty bad - in that one game. Riley has three games under 100 in his 19 games as the starter. Jake had 7 under 100 in his 19 games as the starter.
Riley was more epically bad in that one game, but Jake was more consistently atrocious.
Jake had two wins against teams with a winning record, Riley has four (with a potential for a fifth). To be fair, they did share in one of their wins (Washington 2010).
