I disagree. I thought my posts were rather logical. Guess we're going to have to debate reality and perspective...

I have no problem with players being on social media. It's a free country and their presence can do a lot of good. However, if a player wants to publicly call out fans, said player should be prepared to deal with the backlash.

Ideally, BYU players should get a crash course in spokesperson training so they can use there position as a person of interest on the team to be an advocate. Hoff could have and should have Tweeted something like:

"Thanks for sitting through a thunderstorm to watch us play today. Best is yet to come. Stick with us."

That would have endured fans to Hoff and the team. Instead, Hoff got defensive and alienated fans. If he were one of the execs I advise, I'd tell him to remove the tweet and apologize for the rash response. But he's not...

LOL, no disrespect to you GUNK, I seem to disagree with everything you've said in the thread... I don't know if there is a right or wrong, just a difference of opinion.

I think its bad for players to be on social media. The CH post is why.
Also the second part of his tweet was a "role call" for loyal fans. It turned into a positive of sorts with fans tweeting back that they were still with the team dispite the loss.
I never thought his first comment was alienating. Does any Cougar fan say "hey im a bandwagon fan, that hurts my feeling" I thought most fans would think that he was talked to somebody else. :P

So you think that fans who traveled across the country and literally sat through rough weather were stupid enough to lump themselves in with a group labelled as "fair-weather fans" and get offended by it? Logic fail.

I don't mind, I read till I reach my destination,
sometimes a newspaper, sometimes a book,

I find that I've visited this forum less lately because of what some of you call "trolls", but I simply call them "anti-fans". Why do so many here feel that they need to constantly make ad hominem attacks and predict doom and gloom? I honestly think that a few of you would be happiest if the Cougars never won another game, just so you could say "I told you so!" Get over yourselves!

This thread is the one that was most on my mind tonight. Hindsight being 20/20 and all, suddenly I think Hoffman may have been prophetic. 11-1 baby!

Here's Hoffman's original TWEET::::

Cody Hoffman @Cody_Hoffman2

all you fair weather fans can be gone now.. where's all our real fans at?? #loyalty

:::::::

Everything after that was me, sorry it looked like he said it, I just did a bad job of quoting and then continuing my though. I've never been "More Invested" in the "Quest for 12-1 perfection". ;)

I would love for you to be right, but unless one of those games is Utah, I disagree.
--------------------------------------------------
Before the season my predictions were (From July 16):
I see 6 wins "guaranteed": Virginia, Middle Tennesee, GT, Houston, ISU and Nevada.
I see 2 "should" wins: Utah and USU.
I see 4 "likely" losses: TX, BSU, Wisconsin and Notre Dame.

7 wins, including Utah, is a success for me. Anything above that becomes a very good to great season.

--------------------------------------------------

I have lost one of those and I'm not so confident in the GT win, though Bronco is usually brilliant against the option.

After watching Utah and USU I take them out of the should win category and they are on the edge of likely losses.

Nothing I saw last week made me feel better. I have seen this movie before and the end sucks.
Ahem.....

Huh...

This thread is about whether its a good idea for players to critique fans. Has nothing to do with performance. Team won today. I am super excited and can't wait for the next game. I still think its dumb, though, of players to make any type of disparaging remark about the fans. Thought it was dumb when Collie did it and thought it was dumb when Hoff did it.

Go Cougs!
