Blue

That kind of depends on what our defense and special teams do or do not contribute. The BYU offense earned every point it got and overcame horrible field position, their own mistakes, spotty officiating, and the loss of JW in doing so.

Our defense is supposed to hold anybody and everybody below 24 points. Go ahead and subtract the Pick 6, KOR, and Safety. They still gave up 30. You would need to subtract the PI non-call to get them to 23. And if Houston kicked the EP instead of going for 2 - 24. But you cannot subtract that because calls go both ways.

And KOR to the house ain't supposed to happen. Rarely does. And that is one of several places where ST did not do their job.

If the BYU D holds BSU, ND, and Wisconsin each BELOW 24, BYU may win 1 or 2 of those.

Well that pribably depends a lot on who is healthy when those games come.

The D has held anyone and everyone under 24 - well under - until recently. Hopefully they get backcto that.

Anae just might be the guy. Wisconsin DC says Anae is totally unpredictable because he just runs a bunch of plays with no rhyme or reason. Whooped Butt on Houston DC for 3 of 4 quarters. Destroyed Texas DC and HC careers.

I mentioned this earlier. Blue is concentrating on 1 phase of the game, offense. And in that 1 phase, he is looking at 1 quarter(3rd). And even more than that he is looking at what plays were called when houston blitzed.
Stop looking at small portions of the game and look at the overall result, Especially when the cougars won. None of the plays you mentioned made such a difference that the cougars lost. In fact they won on a game winning drive. Be happy we win with a load of mistakes and move on. Otherwise you come off as Anti Robert Anae. If you are fine, but at least start your thread with that premise.

BYU gave up the safety in the third quarter after back-to-back delayed blitzes by Matthews, so it's obvious that this was still an issue. However, the offense still racked up 154 more yards of offense and 10 points in the rest of the 2nd quarter. And then 228 more yards of offense in the second half and an additional 13 points, despite the sacks, the safety and the third INT.

So, I think it's safe to say that the offensive playcalling was fine. 382 yards and 23 points in 2.5 quarters, after the sack in question.

It's also interesting to note that Lasike was wide open on the pick-6 play. He was 10+ yards away from the defender Matthews (I see a common theme here for Houston's defense). Had Hill lofted the ball, instead of throwing it right into Matthews' hands, Lasike might still be running. Great play call - bad execution.

Also, on the INT in the endzone, Hine was WIDE OPEN. A fake by Hill and a toss to Hine and he catches it standing all alone. Another great play call - bad execution.

False, I am looking at the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th quarters. Once they adjusted we didn't counter back with a response adjustment. We won on over arching skill, and nothing more. We won because Taysom Hill was the best player on that field, and nothing short of a broken leg was going to stop him from winning. It had little to do with Anae's playcalling, which was pretty innefective for most the 2nd and 3rd quarters, and only barely effective in the 4th (because Taysom just started running the ball and not caring about his body). We lucked out a win.

So if Blueisbetter was the offensive coordinator we would have scored 100 points.
Blue is getting all cut up splitting hairs. I'll quote Coach Howell after the game, only 2 stats matter, W's and L's.

I think it's easy to crucify the OL every game for individual plays. But, heck, if you run 100 plays you're going to have a few crap ones and a couple horrible ones. Especially with our lack of talent! I think it's a miracle we're running the ball as well as we are. Props to Anae!
