Re: Boise Live
I'm feeling cranky about this whole thing. Close games are tough because of the ease with which we can find ways, especially in hindsight, to have taken the win. This was particularly true for this game.

Re: Boise Live
Even though it would have been an even longer kick, part of me thinks we should have attempted another FG instead of a Hail Mary on the last play.

I don't know. I think either call is about equal in %s. that is, very low.KingCoug wrote:Even though it would have been an even longer kick, part of me thinks we should have attempted another FG instead of a Hail Mary on the last play.

Re: Boise Live
The thing that hurts most about this loss is that it feels like the team took a step backwards ... the O especially. I really did think/believe we'd win the trenches ... but we got killed. I don't remember our receivers ever looking so weak. Our D, while forcing 5 turnovers and getting 2 pick-6's ... they were pushed all over. The last drive wasn't their fault ... those guys had been on the field most of the game, they were hurt and tired, so I'll give them a pass on that and hope they catch it better than our receivers would.McY wrote:I'm feeling cranky about this whole thing. I figured 8-4 this year. I hope that where we end up. I'd be real disappointed with 7-5

Re: Boise Live
I think your 8-4 prediction will be right on. We have one more away game against a currently 3-3 Cincinnati but we have a bye week to prep. Then we have a 1-6 UMass, SUU, and 2-4 Utah St at home. I think we win the rest of the way.mtnradio wrote:The thing that hurts most about this loss is that it feels like the team took a step backwards ... the O especially. Re: Boise Live
that's almost a given. jamaal would have given a lot more opportunities at keeping drives alive and keeping the defense honest.vancouvercougar wrote:Squally was OK, but would we have won with Jamaal?

Re: Boise Live
What killed the running game was not Squally. It was a multitude of drive- breaking and ill- timed penalties by the Oline.BroncoBot wrote:that's almost a given. jamaal would have given a lot more opportunities at keeping drives alive and keeping the defense honest.vancouvercougar wrote:Squally was OK, but would we have won with Jamaal?

Ok? Squally ran quite well. I don't know what more he could have done. Guy had several 8+ yard carries.
Stupid penalties and WRs (Kurtz in particular) dropping balls cost us the game.
The defense came out slow, but bounced back. They more than made up for their mistakes. Meanwhile the offense sputtered time and time again.
If Sitake wants the team to go anywhere next season two things need to happen:
1) Cahoon needs to be let go.
2) We need to pick up at least 1 WR transfer.

Maybe New Mexico has another WR who wants to play for a big program.Gunk wrote: If Sitake wants the team to go anywhere next season two things need to happen:
