The third and 2 execution on BYU's drive was awful with Wilson throwing the pass behind the receiver and short killing what would have been a game-winning drive. Then the Tooley targeting call on the punt return wiped out the half the distance to the goal blindside block penalty for Hawaii and actually improved Hawaii's field position for their fast final scoring drive to take the lead.
Dayan then runs the kick return right into the oncoming rush nearly coughing up the ball. Then after a couple of quick nice passes to move down the field, Wilson looks down Bushman--who seemed to casually be interested in that errant pass and allowed the defender to jump the route and end the game.

Play calling is suspect on that 3rd and 2nd play....seemed like the coaches were overthinking it as the team doesn't have a solid healthy RB who can get you those 2 yards reliably. Lots of blame to go all around.

But hey, I'm excited to see some of the depth coming in the defensive backfield and some of the other positions like RB and OL. I'd love to see the team come out next year and not give up 300+ yards every game to opposing defenses.

I guess the next thing to watch for is Bushman and/or Tonga leaving school announcements and whether or not Ty'son Williams is going to get another year. And start getting ready for spring...
Good sentiments. I think I’d have told The O you got 2 downs to get me 2 yards.....Another BSU go for it on 4th. What does it say about a defense that drops 8 and still gives up almost 500 yards? Sigh.

And what do we have coming up next year? Utah. Michigan State. Arizona State. Minnesota. Missouri. Boise State. Stanford.

Hey, I'm sure Kalani & Co. are up to the challenge.

In a few year 7-6 is going to feel like a special season.

Like next year when we lose 10 or 11 games.

The next 2 years where 4 wins total is a possibility

Much like the home crowds were up from recent years, the Hawaii bowl had the highest attendance since 2011 this season. The 2018 Hawaii Bowl reported 30,911 tickets were accounted for and a turnstile attendance of 27,837.

That’s where I’m at too. I missed a couple games this year and had lots better days because of it. It’s not my job to watch a crappy team that doesn’t even try to have a pass rush.

It’s not just losing the games it’s how they do it. BYU needs a driven coach trying to be successful in spite of the admin. This “yes man” love fest will lead to mediocrity at best.

I’m down on Holmoe, Sitake, Grimes, and Tuiaki. Not much to look forward to next season.

I sure have lots of questions. Like:
1. How come ESPN doesn't have a single camera lined up with the goal line, let alone one from each side? Isn't that a requirement in the contract somewhere? Sheesh...
2. Why are the defensive coaches only able to make one adjustment per game, at halftime? The offense had the ball long enough to make a few changes... there are timeouts, other quarters, etc... An adjustment right after the Hawaii's first few drives the length of the field scores instead of letting them have four free early touchdowns would've been nice. Maybe even make another adjustment once they started hitting receivers down the field late in the game...
3. How come the offensive coaches can march down the field with 5-15 yard runs, and then just decide to stop doing that, not even on 3rd & 2? Shouldn't they see if Hawaii can figure out how to stop the plays before they just stop using them???
4. Does anyone still think Wilson is the obvious starter for next year?

I have more, but I've probably exceeded my rant quota for the last two games of the season.

Yes, Wilson IS the obvious starter for next year. He's been starting and growing for two years, he's no longer young it'll be awesome! Ok, that'll be the line from ARod ... none of us should buy it.

I've never seen the kicker calling it good but the refs call it bad.
Actually, I think the ball has to be completely within the upright. So the refs may have got that one right...

The entire ball must pass through the vertical plane of the goal, which is the area above the crossbar and between the uprights or, if above the uprights, between their outside edges
