BYU-Notre Dame game going to be in 2022

Brigham Young will play Notre Dame at Allegiant Stadium in October 2022 as part of the Shamrock Series, a source with knowledge of the discussions said.

The specific date is unknown, but both schools have open dates on Oct. 8 and 29.

It looks like that 12th game/6th road game that isn't announced on the schedule yet for 2022 is going to be the Notre Dame game in Las Vegas' Allegiant Stadium in October.

It probably is a good move but I am disappointed with ND not coming to Provo. This also means we are probably not joining the Big12 until 2023.

It would have been great to have ND at Provo, but getting a Shamrock Series game isn't a crappy consolation prize.

I'm ok if BYU plays Notre Dame in Las Vegas. But under no circumstances should BYU ever play in South Bend before the Irish return to Provo. As far as I'm concerned, the only acceptable locations for BYU-Notre Dame games are Provo or Las Vegas.

PROVO, Utah — BYU and Notre Dame today announced the two schools have agreed to face off in football in 2022 in Las Vegas at Allegiant Stadium, home of the Las Vegas Raiders.

The game will be played on Saturday, Oct. 8 and will be televised nationally on NBC. Game time, ticketing and other details will be announced at a later date.

“We are really excited about the opportunity to return to Allegiant Stadium and face Notre Dame,” said Tom Holmoe, BYU director of athletics. “This has been a process, with a lot of back-and-forth, to be able to find a return game in this series that would work for both sides. We feel very good about playing this game in Las Vegas, where Cougar Nation always shows out, and look forward to an incredible matchup and atmosphere.”

With the Notre Dame game finalized for next season, BYU now has agreements with all 12 opponents for its final season of independence in 2022 before the Cougars officially join the Big 12 Conference in 2023.
