How the BYU/WAC deal fell apart.

Post by CannonCougar85 »

Interesting read.

Fresno State and Nevada really just screwed us over.

And Utah State was a lot more involved then I had previously thought.

And ESPN didn't give BYU the deal that they had hoped for but it was good enough for the plan to move forward.

I hate Jay Drew's little add on words like "gleefully" like the parties involved were a dark figure hiding in the corner and cackling to themselves.

This is probably pretty good evidence that BYU was less than honest in its dealings with its fellow men. Wow. How do we break the silence on this?

I am disappointed in our University.

It was heads up by Hair to quash the deal but it is sad that it had to get to that point for BYU. If I were Holme I would make indy work no matter what. It shows to me that they wouldn't work with BYU to come up with an acceptable conclusion and then actively worked against BYU when BYU began to take steps it felt neccessary to address the unfairness of the situation.

Only someone with an agenda and an ax to grind could say what you have said. The article does not show or indicate anything improper on BYU's part at all. You have lost all credibility

How is this good evidence that we weren't honest in any dealings? You fail to answer that. You are ignored. I suggest everyone do the same. Leave the church if you want to, it's your choice. Stop looking at sports to give you that reason. Or maybe you are trying to convince your wife of what this actually is, so you don't have to go anymore? You have no evidence or links to point back up what you say. Have fun arguing against a brick wall, and see what it has been like for some of us to spend time out of our day to try and reason with you.

I think you're delusional! What did BYU do that was dishonest? Absolutely nothing! All they did was work on negotiating a change in their conference affiliation. They waited to make the announcement until everything was in place. Can you show me where the dishonesty is?

If BYU did play a role in the "buyout" clause, wouldn't that show they were honest in dealing with the WAC? They were honest about coming over and simply wanted some assurances that the deal they were going to broker was actually going to be the deal that occurred.

The ONLY dishonest parties in this entire ordeal have been Fresno and Nevada. They are the ONLY schools who have pledged one thing and then gone and done something immediately after giving said pledge that was diametrically opposed to this pledge.

Guess what dude! Your definition of honesty is WRONG! If dishonest = not telling everybody your plans, then even God is dishonest. He knows when the Second Coming is, and he's not telling until it's all set up and ready. He has secret discussions with the prophet and neither of them make the minutes of those meetings public.

It seems to be a systemic issue in the church. The First Presidency and Quorum of the Twelve meet every Thursday. No press releases about what goes on there. They make plans about temples and opening new missions and merging others and NONE of it makes it into the Church News until it's a done deal.

Same thing with your stake presidency and high council, and your bishopric and the priesthood executive committee and welfare committee. They have to talk about how to help people, families, and the ward without those people or families knowing they're being talked about, because nobody wants to be a project.

Secret is not the same as dishonest. You need to get off of this, because it's going to cause you problems here and elsewhere in your life, as countless other people have tried to tell you. Then again, when you tell your boss you are exploring your options with another company, don't be surprised if he either hands you a pink slip in response and replaces you or gives you a horrible review when talking to the second company. There are things that SHOULD and MUST be done in secret that are not at all dishonest, and if you can't get your head around that, I feel sorry for you.

If the yewts take the field and there are no BYU fans to pour beer on, will anybody come?
