Re: How can 5-7 be a successful season?
All BYU needs to have a successful season is beat Utah for the 4th time out of 5 years. By the time of the Utah game, hopefully Heaps & Co will mature enough to keep the Cougs in the game.
Plus, Utah has had one of the softest schedules in the country to date (while BYU has played on the hardest).
So, 2-10 would be fine, if No. 2 was Utah. Although I would prefer 6-6 with the bowl qualifying win being at SLC.

I completely agree. If we can turn it around and have a wining record the rest of this season, that would give us a lot of confidence going into next year. 5-7 would prove that we are really rebuilding (i.e training new talent), instead of sucking (having no talent).frdbtr wrote:The way this team is currently playing 5-7 would be an amazing turn around.
If these young freshmen can prove they are as talented as we all thought and hope they are, then we have a lot to be excited about in 2-3 years. Think about all that young talent: Jake, Josh, Ross, Cody, and the tight ends, as upper-clansmen, we could be nasty! Going 5-7 would prove that they will be the guys, given the time and experience.

If Heaps can finish the year with more TDs than picks this year will be a success. I don't think we can measure success with Ws this year.
