He can not scheme for anybody. We just happened to have good players the last few years that could win anyway.
I've never been so disgusted at a BYU coach before. I'd rather hang out with Hill's wife.

Re: TCU-BYU Game Thread
Heaps is not developing along in a system that does not like QBs, WRs, RBs. It worked with some freedoms from leadership players. But the system is restricted, non-imaginative, and lethargic. Heaps can be great, but even with Hall, Anae called crap at times, and today's no different. He's got terrible vision since he's on the sidelines, and post game he says: I'd do the same thing over again. That deserves demotion. Can't argue that, if you do you wouldn't change losses.
I've got to speak in sacrament tomorrow about being Christ-like, so I'm not watching the 2nd half so I retain some good will towards men.

After our second loss... I've mentioned I'd like to see Doman step in and play OC. Kyle Whittingham did that last season with his BYU alum WR, and it worked out very well for them.Mars wrote:Anae will be fired at the end of this season, and Doman will replace him.SenorCougar wrote:Bronco knew that the defensive coordinator was expendable, because he was an awesome DC. If he would dump Anae, who could fill in???
Higgins will be fired as well.

"Heaps looks terrible"
What the hell do guys expect? BYU has mis-managed Heaps since his arrival in Provo. The split-snaps and rotating quarterbacks was a terrible idea to everyone on this planet except those in BYU's coaching staff.
All BYU wanted to do coming out was run the ball, when that wasn't working they kept running the ball. The only throws they called for Heaps were dump passes, screens, and quick slants. NONE of which show any sort of confidence in your quarterback. How is Heaps supposed to feel confident and capable when the play calling is telling him he's not? You HAVE to let the freshman throw the ball once in a while when the running game is going nowhere. So you basically tell your QB he sucks and then with 1:30ish left in the half and back to the goal line you are gonna ask him to start airing it out???? Are you freaking kidding me?!?! Ridiculous!
The only knock I have on Heaps is .. "GET RID OF THE DAMN BALL" throw the thing away an stop taking sacks.
IF BYU (whoever it is... Anae, Bronco, Doman,) has to do a better job at getting Heaps better looks and a better opportunity to throw the ball and receivers.... GET OPEN!!! Heaps is only taking these sacks because he has no one throw to in the first place.

Re: TCU-BYU Game Thread
Will never happen, but I like Jimmie McMahon for OC. I know he probably wouldn't fit in (especially as a coach), but the guy has a natural mentality/competitiveness that could benefit the offense. The guy flat out can't be beat in calling plays. He knows his strengths, he knows his weaknesses. He would never put a young QB in a position to fail. The guy is the ultimate winner. Now, a more realistic choice would be Detmer. Again, no experience. But he has been around coaching (his father) his whole life, and he is football smart. He would likewise make calls, or develop a gameplan that will allow Heaps (and the offense) to grow with confidence, not the stuff that is currently going on.......wildeone wrote:I could replace Anae and have better playcalling! Re: TCU-BYU Game Thread
But it won't matter who steps in to call plays. My 10 year old son would call a better game than Anae. Heck, I'll bet Bronco, with no offensive experience would call a better offensive game than Anae because he understands how Defenses work. It looks sometimes like Anae has no idea what is happening and is just rolling the dice and hoping for the best.

What did you guys think of Bronco's comments just a second ago?
She asked if we needed to open up our offensive play book AND he totally agreed.
Couldn't really tell if he was upset with the play calling or not.
