Re: Options Sans Davies
per joe lunardi on twitter...
"P.S.: The Committee would not drop BYU because of the Davies suspension unless/until the Cougars play worse without him. It is not assumed."
(I hope we don't play worse...)

Re: Options Sans Davies
The real problem is on offense, Davies is a great low post scorer. Like really good, so teams leave him one on one down there and he kills them, then they start doubling, and just like that emery, fredette, and rogers are being left wide open. This is really going to hurt our offense.

To the Anderson bashers - yes, he can be an offensive liability, but don't you remember the key role he played in the first win against SDSU? He can be a real presence inside. If he can play with a little more confidence, he could be a real help.

Re: Options Sans Davies
Anderson is a wannabe Ostertag. Yes he can be a presence. But no, he is not near consistent enough to be relied upon from game to game. Coaches need to know what they can get from a guy each game, and with Anderson, no one ever really knows. So when he does contribute, it is a bonus surprise.
Davies out just cut the tourney run short by at least 2 games. Where I thought we had a shot a Elite 8 or even Final 4 before, now I think Sweet 16 is the best that can be done. Good, but still a disappointment.

AMEN!!!! Thats what ive been trying to say!!! I think Rose pushes him to become the inside gome for byu, and he takes it to heart. All we need is for him and hartsock to be good enough for the opponent to respect our inside game, not necessarily focus on it, but just respect it enough to know we can score from there. I REALLY hope anderson and hartsock take this to heart and do this for the team.

Re: Options Sans Davies
If we play zone anderson can be functional on D, in man he is just wayyyyyyy to slow. So we will have to go zone for the entire rest of the season. On offense he is less than a non factor, he cannot catch the ball, let alone finish an open layup. Thats where he will really be exposed, when Jimmer drops him a nice pass in the lane and he bobbles it out of bounds time and time again.

Re: Options Sans Davies
Good point, Anderson is pretty decent in a zone patrolling the middle. We could see even more zone than we have, and this would help protect Noah from foul trouble as well.

Re: Options Sans Davies
Noah is REALLY going to have to take 5 steps forward. He's going to have to become a crafty scorer down low and find those moves he had once upon a time in OK. Draw the double team then pass out of it. KC and Abouo are going to have to prove they can score inside more as well.

Re: Options Sans Davies
This is going to be all aobut players creating shots or drawing defenders to keep them from creating those shots and kicking to an open player who hoepfully will not have gon ecold.
Jimmer can do it and will need to be driving the lane all night. Hopefully he will get a few calls. WHen Anderson is in, he will be ignored which allows an easy double team. that is where Abuo, Rogers, and KC come in. they have at times shown the ability to slash and get to the hoop but have been inconsistent about finishing. they ned ot finish better.
Quit worrying about the Dance. We play NM tonight and probably did not get a chance to practice with the actual players and scheme Rose stayed up all night drawing up last night. Unless, Rose knew about Davies Monday and drew things up Monday night an dpracticed that way yesterday.
The regular season conference title could be locked up tonight against the only team in the conference that beat us.

Anae just might be the guy. Wisconsin DC says Anae is totally unpredictable because he just runs a bunch of plays with no rhyme or reason. Whooped Butt on Houston DC for 3 of 4 quarters. Destroyed Texas DC and HC careers.
