A bishop for embellishing a story about meeting his girl friend?BoiseBYU wrote:If Manit were to say. I got duped and embarrrased I lied to my parents. And after even after knowing it was false I perpetuated it because it made me look, and for those lies and deception I apologize and repent, I'd be done with it. So far he's not come close to doing that. The ONLY lie he's owned up to is telling his parents he met her.....which hurts his parents I suppose but was part of the greater plan to make himself look good. Manti tasted celebrity status and it tasted good and he fed it. He needs to own up to it and then allow us to forgive and move on. He does not need a PR person or a lawyer or an agent on this. He needs a Bishop.Cougarbib wrote:Once again - someone - The Prankster in this case - does something 100% wrong and bad - and the person victimized by it gets more criticism for their poor handling of it than the jerk who perpetuated it.
Yes. Teo was duped. He embellished. Embarrased about having a relationship with someone he never met, he lied to make it less embarrassing. Then he was in over his head. The roof collapsed. He handled that embarrassment with more embellishment and lies.
His humiliation that has ensued should be adequate consequence for his foolishness and deceit.
The Prankster - meanwhile - seems to have gotten forgotten after a quick apology.

Still too many inconsistencies to think he's come clean--still talking about dead girlfriend post Dec 6, which he tries to explain to Schaap as "I thought after the call she was still alive until the Deadspin article." That makes zero sense because (a) he still referred to her as dead and having lost her to cancer--either he knew it was a hoax at that time or he thought she was alive; (b) he told ND on Dec 26 he was a victim of a hoax.

He does say in the Schaap interview that it occurred to him that maybe Lennay was really dead and her "sister" was screwing with him.snoscythe wrote:Still too many inconsistencies to think he's come clean--still talking about dead girlfriend post Dec 6, which he tries to explain to Schaap as "I thought after the call she was still alive until the Deadspin article." I'm actually starting to kind of believe him, just a little bit.

We need to hear from the scammer that duped Manti, and it should put this whole thing to rest. I'm patiently waiting to hear what he has to say. Not Manti. Not Manti's "advisor", father, or anyone.
This will tell where Manti was lying as so many here "need" to know what are actual lies.

I for one don't care about his lies. I'm glad he never came to BYU. Thank goodness for Bronco being able to discern the truth and pull his offer.

You guys know that in LDS culture you're not allowed to point out that anyone has ever done anything wrong. That's judgmental and holier-than-thou.
I'm just a regular, everyday normal guy,
I can't afford a car, I use public transportation,
I don't mind, I read till I reach my destination,
sometimes a newspaper, sometimes a book,
the money I save, this stuff is off the hook,

It's not holier-than-thou if the wrong doer is a UTE, or a player who chose another school over BYU

Then lets confess. I once thought that a Nigerian princess really loved me.Schmoe wrote:You guys know that in LDS culture you're not allowed to point out that anyone has ever done anything wrong. That's judgmental and holier-than-thou.
