Re: The way you will know that Bronco has faced the music
I think right now Ty is probably struggling with his thirst for coaching QB's with his enjoyment of his current lifestyle. I do think he's interested in playing a more active role with BYU athletics, but he more than anyone understands the time demands coaching at this level require. Right now I think he gets his fill by helping his father and brother operate a QB clinic in Texas.frdbtr wrote: I would love to see Ty coaching at BYU in some capacity (QB coach or whatever, he is a genius). Having said that, I don't see him wanting it yet.

I agree with that, Ty was back here a lot at the start of the season, and I think the desire to join BYU's program is growing in him every year. Part of it may also be that he doesn't want to move his daughters from their home and school unless he's really sure.mcgregor wrote:I think right now Ty is probably struggling with his thirst for coaching QB's with his enjoyment of his current lifestyle. it would be sweet to get him. I don't know him personally, all I have seen is what he has said in the media when asked if he wants to coach and from what he says and the expression on his face it didn't look like he was interested yet. I hope he gets interested and we get him to come coach in some capacity.mcgregor wrote:I think right now Ty is probably struggling with his thirst for coaching QB's with his enjoyment of his current lifestyle. Speaking of Hill, I hope that if he bolts for another job elsewhere that Bronco persues the DL coach or LB coach at TCU for the DC position here. I think they both understand how it works at TCU and I would love to see them do some of the same here. I know we don't have a couple of possible 1rst rounders on D but I imagine that scheme has helped them as well as talent. Otherwise, look at FL State. About as talented a team as any in D1 and the D sucks. Guys running all over the place covering each other or just lines and grass.mcgregor wrote:No. But money can be produced quickly. When we needed to boost Jaime Hill's pay to keep him here a little longer, Tom Holmoe had NO problem finding cash among the donors to do it.Mars wrote:

The BSU DC would not come to BYU, but he sure can coach....While Oregon played poorly, some of it is explained by how disruptive BSU's defense was...since that game, OR has rolled. They play a 4-3 and their DL sure seem to play good to me...Fresno ran on them well, and they have given up some big plays, but in the end they sure do their partimuakahuku wrote:Speaking of Hill, I hope that if he bolts for another job elsewhere that Bronco persues the DL coach or LB coach at TCU for the DC position here. The BSU DC seems to be hit or miss, did you catch the Fresno St. game?
I'm just a regular, everyday normal guy,
I can't afford a car, I use public transportation,
I don't mind, I read till I reach my destination,
sometimes a newspaper, sometimes a book,
the money I save, this stuff is off the hook,

Re: The way you will know that Bronco has faced the music
I did and BSU was lucky to win--their special teams saved the day. Fresno ran on BSU easily. But in the end BSU stopped them to win and had some huge turnovers to break Fresno's back....If that was BSU's worst game it palls compared to our worst games, defensively...The think is BSU seems to produce well with athletes rated lower than the recruits we get and yet do better. I'll be interested how the USU games goes to see how much we can compare. I actually like Hill and think he does outstanding with what he has..I hope he can recuit better what he needs and then go from thereSchmoe wrote:The BSU DC seems to be hit or miss, did you catch the Fresno St. game?

Plus, if we got him, maybe he would bring Hout along to man our D-Line! :shock:BoiseBYU wrote: The BSU DC would not come to BYU, but he sure can coach...

mcgregor wrote:You know, I think I'll abstain from this question. I'll say this, however, that I think Coach Hill is worth every penny we pay him, and probably then some. I would wager that no one on the coaching staff holds as much football information in his head than he does. Also, Coach Doman is invaluable to the program in terms of what he brings to the table as a recruiter. That being said, I'd rather see Ty Detmer as the actual QB coach.frdbtr wrote:This quote leads me to believe that you have a particual assistant or assistants in mind that need firing. Can you elaborate? Or would that get you in trouble with your contacts at BYU?mcgregor wrote:He is. But there are ways to let go those you are loyal to in a graceful manner. I hope Bronco has what it takes to get it done. It's been needed for a few years now.Metallicat wrote:I have a hard time picturing him letting anybody go. Maybe I'm wrong, but he seems really big into the loyalty thing.
McGregor,
There are several posters over on TBS who claim to have inside knowledge that Coach Hill has lost the respect of many of the defensive players, not because of his knowledge but because of his personality, and that there are rumblings of current defensive players looking elsewhere if Coach Hill is still here next year. Have you heard any such talk?

I am sure Bronco would stomp a mutiny in it's tracks. I hope that there is not anything going on on the locker-room.
