Re: Moving On to BSU--Room for Improvement
Hanneman was called upon a bunch during the game. He may have been on the field more than any other player that we have. I thought that he tackled well, especially in the open field, and got better as the game went on. #1 had his way with Hanneman in the first qtr., but was a non factor during the 2nd and 3rd. The interception was actually an athletically fantastic catch with amazing body/feet control. Tuiloma, Takitaki & Nacua's abscenses weighed heavier on the DB performance than we are crediting.

I think that you'll see really big improvements in this next game from Hanneman. I think that now that he has a real game under his belt, he and the coaches can study that film and identify where he needs to improve. I was kind of down on him after the game, but after thinking about it, I expect to see a big leap forward from him against Boise.
I expect the same thing from Langi. Wrap up, son!

The interception was a ball thrown well short of the receiver. If Armstrong isn't tripped up, that ball is probably a Nebraska touchdown and Nebraska's 8th completion out of 9 passes thrown Hanneman's way. I don't see how anyone can argue that a guy who went 2-9 in defending passes had even a pedestrion outing. He was absolutely owned. You'd better tackle well if you're giving up receptions as a corner. He allowed 7 receptions (on 9 targets), got 6 tackles. Other than the one interception, Hanneman looked completely out of his depth, and I think anyone who doesn't see that is fooling themselves.MesaCougFan wrote:Hanneman was called upon a bunch during the game. Yeah, I found Hannemann's "eat 'em up" motion on the sideline after the interception to be quite humorous. I guess it's good that he has a short memory, but he was picked on repeatedly, and with good reason, because he was taking bad angles on tackles, unable to force bubble screens back to the middle of the field and just gave up too much of a cushion to provide any semblance of good pass defense.

Let's not forget the touchdown saving tackle on the fake screen - oh, wait, that was after he bit on the fake and left his guy wide open and almost cost us the game...

The inside receivers will need to help in the run game. Trey Dye and Mitch Juergans should see more of the fly motion hand offs going forward.

What happened to the Bash Brothers? I thought we would have a better running game with our converted D players playing TE.

Terren Houk is our TE equivalent this year.vancouvercougar wrote:What happened to the Bash Brothers? I thought we would have a better running game with our converted D players playing TE.

Re: Moving On to BSU--Room for Improvement
Room for improvement would be scoring TD's in the blue zone. Even though BYU was perfect in scoring in the blue zone, they only scored 2 TD's and kicked 2 FG's.
