Re: TCU to Big 12
According to this, BYU is not on the B12 list anymore if Missouri decides to leave:
http://www.abc4.com/content/news/state/ ... mjskA.cspx" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
They say that nobody knows if BYU turned down an offer, or just couldn't reconcile the TV contract and Sunday play with the B12. Of course, if this article turns out to be true, I think we deserve some kind of "official" explanation.

Re: TCU to Big 12
I actually hope it is over Sunday play. Because if it is, then that would be understandable. BYU won't play on Sundays. It's a hard rule. It's a core philosophy. If we're not going to the Big 12 because we simply don't want to, that's much less palatable.radius19 wrote:I highly doubt this is over sunday play, really. I'm having a hard time stomaching this news. Something needs to be said, if nothing else than to tell the fans that they are committed to competing. TH can't hide forever and will someday have to answer some questions. Sad day if we overreached and burned the big xii bridge to save the wcc bridge.

Re: TCU to Big 12
Why do fans think they deserve an explanation? Because they chose to believe anonymous "insiders" on online forums rather than avoiding speculation as BYU advised them?profgeek wrote:If this article turns out to be true, I think we deserve some kind of "official" explanation.
If you chose to buy into the hype and rumor, you only have yourself to blame. If BYU is independent next year, we'll be right where we expected to be as of June of this year. The only thing that changed since June is the rumor and innuendo of the chat boards. So if you bought into unsubstantiated rumor and innuendo from nameless faceless people on the internet after BYU told you not to, why does BYU owe you some official explanation for why the rumors you chose to believe never came true?
These are the entitled fans I can live without if continued independence winnows them out. Fans who think that they are smarter than the BOT and the administration of BYU and the AD and whine and moan about the politics of the game and let it taint their ability to enjoy Saturday afternoons. At the end of the day, it's about the logo on the helmet and the numbers on the scoreboard, not the patch on the shoulder pad or the votes on Sunday.

Re: TCU to Big 12
I never said the explanation had to come from BYU. BYU has steadfastly said nothing. The Big 12, on the other hand, has, on numerous occasions, mentioned BYU as a possible addition. The explanation should come from them. Further, this has gone beyond rumor, as the Big 12 made an offer to TCU. Nobody need officially comment on rumors and speculation. Official acts are another matter. Does BYU "owe" fans an explanation? No. Do fans deserve an explanation? Yes, but not necessarily from BYU.
Personally, I don't think the Big 12 is stable right now. Further, the people making the decisions are the Big 12 presidents. Their #1 thought is not football (directly), it's money. Any decisions they make will be driven by that. Right now, I don't think they are on board with inviting BYU, mostly because of the TV deal. No Sunday play relates to that, as many TV deals with conferences will include Sunday games. This isn't, currently, a match made in heaven, as some would suggest. Rather, I think both parties are skeptical. I also think that, with the Big East imploding, there are many more options available now to the Big 12 than there were when A&M decided to leave, including expansion without having to go west of the Rockies.

I'm just a regular, everyday normal guy,
I can't afford a car, I use public transportation,
I don't mind, I read till I reach my destination,
sometimes a newspaper, sometimes a book,
the money I save, this stuff is off the hook,
