BYU vs USF Game Thread

Couldn't find one.

Good game so far. USF making a comeback. Getting a little chippy.

Some notes:
Haws playing really well. Even his man defense is pretty good. Haws working hard.

I don't get having Austin out there in a starting role. He isn't rebounding, isn't altering shots on defense, and is zero threat when he gets the ball (not to say he can't score, he has a decent jump shot. He isn't even *looking* to score.) We'd be a lot better off dropping Kcoll to the 4 position.

KColl looks absolutely LOST on defense. I have said it all year that he isn't a good option at PG, and I am being proven right. Getting destroyed in man, and the zone he has no clue where to be...

Our zone defense is silly bad. Need to get Carlino and Winder in at guard position and go man. Haws at three and Kcoll at 4. Austin or Mika at 5. This is getting bad.

I don't see why Rose is playing Bartley at the 4 position. He probably shouldn't be in, and KC is the more natural position being taller. The defense is such a mess at the end of this half... yikes. I don't know what defense they are even playing every other play. I don't think that they do either.

Yikes. What are you doing, Rose? Bench Carlino and Mika and the game goes to Sh@$,

Umm, ya that was some weird rotation going on.

We lost our defense mojo, though, where we were getting stops and getting points in transition.

Austin and Mika in foul trouble doesn't help. I think that's why we saw Bartley in there. Someone with some quicks that might just be able to hold them off for a minute or two.

Rebounding is horrible and USF has a great high low that we can't seem to figure out how to defend.

Here's to Rose making some excellent half time adjustments.

Sub pattern was strange at best to close out the half. Better get some swagger back and some Carlino contribution or it will be a long second half.

Mika has let the physical play of USF go to his head.

Here's what's hurting BYU. Turnovers 7 to 4. Offensive rebounds, USF has 7 too many. USF also has 8 assists to BYU's 2. Team ball wins in conference championships. USF also hitting 41.7% from 3.

Agree with this assessment. Quit getting caught up in the emotion and play your game. Need to knock down some 3's to open the driving lanes a bit.

Too many wasted trips down the court to start the half. Got the stops but couldn't make the shots. Going to be a close one, folks.

They should be able to pull this out, but I can't believe how many points in the paint USF is getting. Of course our white guys get called for fouls all night long down there no matter what.

Against quicker undersized bigs you need to move your feet, something that Austin and Worthington are both incapable of.

I told you all, Carlino and WInder at guard and KColl down at the 4 and the defense immediately picks up and we get a bunch of stops for the lead. We are also buying Haws a rest with Sharp out there. If Haws was out there we would be scoring a bunch more for a bigger lead.

This needs to be the lineup against any team that doesn't start 2 7 footers.
