Honestly I wouldn't be shocked if Weber State beats Utah State. Hard to get back up after such a thorough pounding. The guys at Weber State watching film on Alabama's thrashing can laugh and backslap and say, "let's try to do what they did."

The Liberty v Wake Forest match-up next week will be a nice barometer for that opponent. WF is a quality team.

I think Old Domion beats East Carolina too.

We've got a big one this Saturday. The TVRC-ometer tells me BYU has a 65% chance to win. Might be a shootout. Some serious 4thQ stops will be needed because I think this one goes down to the wire. This one will get won in the trenches.

I'm hoping both the O and D will show some new material on Saturday night. I liked everything about week 1 and putting up 50 points, being ahead 38-0 too, and am wondering if there was holding back some scheme for week 2. I do think we have the depth to win it this year. I like Kalani's vision of reflecting on what was needed in the program from last year's loss to Baylor. He is bringing up the program's depth and development and therefore ability to contend with teams like #9 Baylor.

We do have a shot, and I think Jaren Hall makes it happen. He is looking great at spreading the wealth around. Amazing how many different receptions happened. We do need a no INT game on Saturday night, pretty please. That said, I like him taking risks and the aggression is good, so it works. Remember the days when Max Hall just stared down Austin Collie until he was open? Jaren goes through his reads and hits the guy open. The NFL scouts love that. Dude will need to hit 250+ yards and continue playing an efficient effective offense. Against USF, I loved seeing the RBs hit the holes and take off for a big gain. I hope we can get enough of those Saturday night against a MUCH better D.

I'm calling a shootout 38-35, Cougs make a statement in the 4th Q. Watch for the heavy TE/Fullback set to make a short yardage gain to seal a W. Calling on Hayes, Mandell, G-L, Robinson to bring back an INT. Let's go baby! Provo has a top 10 coming to town! LES will be rocking. Goooooo Cougars!

Haha, that was just a total gut feel. I was thinking that after Alabama's thrashing, that Weber State would then have just an opening, and thinking it would be competitive and they would find a way to win.

Did not expect full Utah State implosion.

Weber State beat them handily, and it wasn't even close. Wow the Utah State fans are not happy:

As a coach you have to get your team to focus and regroup after a loss. No matter the loss. You try to prevent the piling on and redirect and get competitive.

It will also be interesting how Vanderbilt responds to the L to Wake Forest. Vandy surprised me starting 2-0, but I fear this is the beginning of a 2-10...just like last year. Or maybe Vandy finds a way to get 4 wins over the next 9 games and goes to a bowl. It's why you play the game.

Did not see Marshall rolling out of South Bend with a win. Crazy upsets this weekend. I wonder how the Vegas odds-makers will adjust the BYU game now. Notre Dame looks vulnerable a few weeks out.
