President Uchtdorf hates Max Hall?

Anyone watching the Priesthood session probably would have laughed along with me as President Ucthdorf came down rather sharply on those expressing "hate" for their rivals and for those who made "generalizing" statements about their rival based on the conduct of a few.



Even though the rivalry is fading if not dead, hopefully we can bring back a measure of civility to the red and blue. No matter how much we may agree with Max.



Anyone else think of this last night?

LOL. He "hates" Max Hall for "hating" the Utes.

I thought he was trying to say something about all the aggies and utes who are loving the chance to jump on BYU while they're down.

It crossed my mind.

I thought he was talking about the Vuvuzelas from the last World Cup.

That was the best talk I've heard in a long time. Course, I haven't heard one in a long time, but that one really was great.



Best line, "Remember that children of God all wear the same jersey."



Made me want to go hug a Ute ;)

the funny thing about this talk is immediately following the comments about loving fans of all teams I hear a couple of Ute fans behind me start talking about how "he's really ripping those self-righteous BYU fans, yeah!"

Yeah, I think the talk was like one of those Rorschach tests. You kind of heard whatever you wanted to. I thought it could be applied obviously to anyone and everyone involved in sports. It's a great perspective to try to maintain. "Try" definitely being the key word there ;)

Totally. I definitely though of Max during this talk. However, I really felt this was more directed at fans and the crap that spews from all of our mouths and keyboards. It's just a game and it's not worth having harsh feelings or losing the spirit over. This talk probably cut at least moderately deep in to nearly every BYU and Ute fan that heard it---we need to get over ourselves and get along better. Can you imagine a bitter rivalry on the field of play with civil discourse before, after, and in the stands---sounds like a great thing to me.

That was a great talk.



I was at the Air Force - Navy game yesterday and was impressed with the respect that both sides showed to the other after the game. The stadium was full of Air Force and Navy supporters both passionately cheering for their teams, yet I heard and saw many congratulate the other after the game.



It is possible to strike a balance between competitive aggression and respect for your opponent. I think the BYU - Utah rivalry will settle down a bit in the wake of this conference talk and with all of the changes happening with each program. We don't have to like each other, but a little more respect from the fans would be good for everyone.

Knowing what we know about the value of charity and what the church wishes to achieve through BYU athletics, we should definitely not be the guilty party when it comes to hatred for other teams. We should set the example of respect.

Maybe you forget that game is almost two months away. Maybe if the game was next week, or maybe two weeks away. 2 months away doesn't have a prayer. I still hate the Utes. Period. I will continue being as "classy" as I have towards them. Let's not forget that most of the people that actually needed to hear this weren't there. And no, it didn't fall on deaf ears with me, I am not going to incite anything towards them, but I really doubt that Ute fans are going to stop being Ute fans, especially in light of this year them being "so good" and us being so bad.

My first thought was about Max Hall. I laughed to myself quietly.

I laughes and thought of hall right away. I was thinking about him watching priesthood somewhere and feeling a little dumb. Bretheren are aware of the problem.



On my way out my elders quorum pres says, regarding the guy who said he would never play ons unday, I don't thinkl collie worried about that.



Its getting old the hate ute fans have foe byu. I can't stand it. They are coming out of the woodworks to go out of their way to rub it in my face.
