On the Ogletree slip Uale jumped the crossing route early - which was actually pretty well defended - allowing the defender to literally have 40 yards in front of him without anyone in sight. Uale is the safety net, providing no safety on that play. That is why they actually call the position "safety" . Get it?
There was another, the TD before the half I think, where they just sent trips over to Uale's side, and he once again jumped on the crossing route, leaving the streaker wide open for the 50 yd TD.
Sometimes the safety has responsibilities besides covering every possible missed coveage for passing. Run support for example. Sometimes Corners and linebackers go without such support. That is what Bronco did not prepare for on that play leaving Tree naked but overmatched. I am glad you think you know on every play whether Uale is supposed to be profiding support for a corner, linebacker on pass coverage or run support and where.
Letting that same speed mismatch or size mismatch get one on one with a safety is generally not going to work out even when they do have that responsibility. Ogletree blew that coverage. Why aren't you calling for his head. Is he your cousin, or do you just assume since we have safeties, nobody else needs to make their play. Itis a big, wide field - safeties are not gong to cover everything. ANd they will get mismatches as well.
I have acknowledged 1,000 times that Uale is not a strong match for speed and jukes in open field situations. Lots of people are not. Uale isn't.
Here is what Bronco knows that you do not know. He knows who was actually supposed to do what on that play and you do not. I don't either - true confession. I trust Bronco will be talking to whomever blew a coverage.
When you hear Bronco talk about Uale - you don't hear a lot about broken coverage. Re Soresen, you do. Hopefully Sorensen improves. Uale - what you see is probably what you will get as he graduates after 4 more games.
