Boswell will not be returning to the basketball team. He came home last week for the Christmas holidays and let us know that he was cut from the team.

That's interesting; last I had heard in early november that he was just going to sit out this year to concentrate on his premed and then come back.

It was quite clear that Lone Peaks legs were gone and Milton is one of the most athletic high school teams I've seen in a long time (they knocked off Gorman last night)

They were tired and outclassed by a long and senior laden team with 5-6 guys that are headed to big time D1 programs.

Still an amazing tourney for our boys. I like our chances next season against anyone with 6'9" Eric Mika coming in and all our important players returning.

yah, he was quite shaken up as was his family...some hard feelings still linger. Not sure what has promised after his surgery (had bone spurs in both ankles) but things just went south for him after that.

That's surprising, I have seen some of his prep videos and I thought as a walkon that he'd be a real blessing to have as another big body when the team has foul trouble etc.

I wonder what happened between early November and Christmas.

just my opinion, but I think Dave looked at the number of freshman and those coming in next year and didn't see a place for Michael. Don't worry though, his little brother is a freshman at Aloha High School and already 6' 5" and over 250lbs. There may be a Boswell at BYU after all.

Well I hope the family still loves BYU then. Sounds like little bro could be an Olineman or power forward by the time he's done growing.

i think they will get over it...just disappointed right now. His two sisters are playing volleyball at BYU, one currently and one next year, so I think they are forced to like BYU.

It is possible that a part time player coming off surgery would not help the team prepare for their games.

When you have two walk-ons in the two-deep (Zylstra, Cusick) there isn't much room left on the roster for injured practice squad players. Unfortunately.

Craig, you indicated that Jabari might have a soph year. So, not a likely one and done? And, I presume, no mission? If he stayed his soph year and Nick deferred his mission for another year and that would put TJ in his fresh year, ok, now we are talking really good team.

I was impressed with Nate last night. He should be good. My buddy told me he looked better than BDavies in the state HS game. All I have been seeing is some hustle, good rebounds and an awful free throw shooter, but he is coming around.

I love thinking about the future when I see Carlino, Winder, Harrison and Austin on the floor at the same time and knowing they're all freshmen!

And that the prospects get no less attractive and even more so in some cases. Rose has the machine going. its nice Utah continues to be so awful.

After beating top ranked Denver East in his return from injury... next game.....Cory Calvert with 40! 7 - 11 from 3, 7 rebs, 5 assts.

The Knights move up 17 spots after their 90-63 victory over previous FAB 50 No. 27 Lincoln (Brooklyn, N.Y.) at the Brandon Jennings Invitational in Milwaukee. Nick Emery continued his standout season, nailing eight 3-pointers and scoring 31 points against Lincoln.

That loss to Orem probably keeps Lone Peak from the top 25 or even higher considering Lone Peak would have had a shot at West Jordan in the next game. Throw in 6'9" Eric Mika and Lone Peak would be top 5. Impressive considering they return nearly everyone next year.

Emery could be the best guard in the country for his class.

Jabari has a sensitivity and maturity that is rare for his age. I don't think he's a nobrainer lottery pick after his freshman season, He's a very rare and smart basketball player, but I don't think he's an all world athlete and his game needs some maturing before he's a multimillionaire. He's the #1 recruit in the country because of the person he is and the hoops IQ he has; but he's not Kevin Garnett, Kobe Bryant, Lebron James, etc.

If he chooses BYU (which I think is still quite the longshot) I think that will be telling about his interest in playing more than one year. If he choses Kentucky, Illinois, etc. then I think one and done might be on his mind. If he choses Duke (which I think is a very real possibility if he decides not to stay at home) then I'd say it's 50/50 but Duke really frowns on one and done players.

It does not hurt that Jabari tweets back and forth with Demarcus Harrison and has to be paying attention to what Matt Carlino, Nate Austin are doing at BYU and what Cory Calvert, Nick Emery, Jordan Chatman and others are doing at the prep level. I think we have a chance, but I'd put it at 20% right now BUT momentum is building. We really need to make the dance this year but I think we're a solid bubble right now.

Certainly Jimmers success last year made a huge impression and when Tyler Haws, Kyle Collinsworth, and Isaac Nielson return, this team is that much better. I don't know what Jabari knows about those guys, but I hope our coaches are educating him.

On another note, deserving a thread of it's own, I think Quincy Lewis needs to be considered for a JUCO head coaching job after next season. (I don't think he'd leave before leading next years team to the top of the nation; might be his best team ever which says a lot considering his past teams that had 6 D1 signees on them at a single given time). Put a BYU guy at Lone Peak (like Lee Cummard, Lamont Morgan) and find Quincy a head coaching job at SLCC or another solid JUCO school. This is how Steve Cleveland made his rise to prominence and the JUCO route is how Dave Rose earned his chops.
