Was at the game tonight. Here are a few observations.

-The arena was about 60% filled with about 60% BYU fans.

- One could tell they were flat in warmups. They had no energy.

- USD band was chanting "honor code" at one point to Davies.

- Arena is beautiful

- one BYU fan in front of me with a long lens on his camera was zooming in taking pictures of USD cheerleaders.

- poor Demarcus Harrison. Something is going on.

My first reaction to this was that the "something" goining on is his shot not going in.... then I decided to go look for some good stats before posting.

This from Cougar Tracks today:
Why Damarcus Harrison has not been playing: has by far BYU's lowest offensive rating/PAP yet BYU's highest % of possessions used/shots taken.

Of the 11 BYU players averaging 9 min/gm or more, eight have offensive ratings of 100.0 or better. Winder 98.7, Sharp 97.3, Harrison 76.9.

Damarcus began the season quite well; hit four of his first seven 3pfga. Since then, he has hit four of his next 28 3pfga.

remeber, though, Jimmer's first shot at BYU was NBA (Nothing But Air!)

He's an eager beaver and shoots just about every time he touches the ball. Plus he's very TO prone. Against SD was the first game in about 3 or 4 where he didn't shoot, course he only played for 1 min. In fact, in that 1 min of play he had 1 rebound and 1 TO.

He played well against Baylor, but since then has plummeted.

My biggest disappointment is we have one of the most athletic and longest guards we have ever had, and he is trying to be a jump shooter. Shooters are a dime a dozen. We need him to create and take it to the rack. One thing I have noticed is that when he takes somebody off the bounce, and pulls for a jumper he shoots a much higher percentage. But in the end it is all about touches and finding the rhythm. I just hope he gets some minutes. Just concerned this could become a deja vu of Jake Heaps. :(

I think Jake has left mental scars upon our fanbase. Hell, the Heaps-Nelson debate bitterness still exists.

Whether or not his situation becomes like Jake Heaps will depend 100% on Harrison himself. If he uses this year as an opportunity to work hard, learn from his team mates and just try to contribute in the best way he can while on the floor, he will improve and start contributing better. If he decides to sulk and blame coaching decisions on his lack of playing time and success until he transfers, then he will likely not succeed here and everyone who had high hopes for him will bad mouth him like we did Jake when he left. It will totally be up to him.
