Anybody have any info on Collingsworth? Is he going to be able to suit up at all this year?

The answer to both questions, IMO, is doubtful.

I heard that collinsworth SR. And Rogers would be playing within a few weeks.

According to Rose on Collinsworth (not Collingsworth):

“He is improving,” Rose said. “I think he has some added encouragement because of how his knee is responding to physical therapy the past two weeks. Hopefully he will continue to progress. As far as a timeline and when he will be back, I don’t think anybody really knows that.”

I highly doubt we'll see Collinsworth play this season and I there's a good chance we won't see him ever play again. Perhaps he's stalling for when his bro gets back, but I suspect Collinsworth has succumbed to Garner Meads syndrome.

I would agree. I have made this point to the slam of others. It's unfortunate and I hope he comes back, but the writing seems on the wall. Of course looking at each injury might help. If its the same injury vs multiple injury proneness, it could make a difference.

I don't like the microfracture surgery that he had. I don't think the success rate is very high. Greg Oden of Portland had it do and has hardly played since.

He refuses to play until people start spelling his name correctly!

I have some info because he goes to TOSH for his knee and that's where my wife works. From what I've heard he's just one of those guys that heals slowly but they seem optimistic for long term, don't really think so short term. It just basically solidifies for me what the media reports have been saying. At least he's doing some rehab at TOSH though that really seems like the place to do it around here because of the resources and money they have.... But I guess that just my opinion.

I agree with both of these. I can't imagine he would burn a year to come back and play for a few weeks this season even if he was feeling okay enough to play. It's just not worth it. I don't know if he will ever make it back. It's already been over a year and it's a very difficult surgery to return from.

I had ACL/MCL surgery through TOSH. You know, the 6-8 week recovery time surgery? My doctor? Worked on Tiger Woods and was generally thought of as the top doctor in the west for this kind of thing.

Time to heal? 18 months.

Yeah, you read that right.

Doctors were very good at telling me what was wrong with me. No one could tell me why it was taking so long. Anyways. Thanks TOSH. At least I can walk.

Haha, I had a long recovery when I had knee surgery there too... Just figured I was weird... Maybe you're on to something...

That's kind of interesting. I know two girls that had ACL injuries. One had surgery and recovered at TOSH, one somewhere else. The one at TOSH took longer and she had more problems after. The other girl was playing again at 6 months and never had an issue. I know additional injuries (with ACL) and how well PT was followed make a difference, but 18 months recovery would be beyond annoying!

If I'm not mistaken, didn't he already burn this year by playing early?

I think so, and anyway, didn't he already use his medical redshirt last year?

Ya sorry. I was getting my medical redshirt/redshirt rules mixed up. He did play some in two games at the beginning of the season so the redshirt is out, which I think he does still have available. I am surprised they played him because it doesn't really seem like he was at 100% anyway. He did use a medical redshirt last year, but I have knows kids in other sports to get two during their careers. Maybe Chris can, if he is able to play in future seasons.

Unfortunately for Chris, he served a mission after already playing for BYU. The odds of returned missionaries getting two medical RS's is very low.

Football player in some of my classes did it. Can't remember his name.
