Magic happens. Nice to get a win even if it was a play in game.

For those of us who went off to do others things...what in the world happened?

this was as close to a 50/50 game as you could get.

I have to laugh at the "experts" on this board who had all of the things down pat that BYU needed to do to win. For example:

Play man-to-man defense

Play Carlino the whole game and don't let Cusick on the court

If coach Rose had stuck with that advice we would have lost by 50!

You missed it? How could you? I almost joined you however I would rather watch them lose then to not watch at all. I was not going anywhere except I was reading the paper at the same time until it got good.

In a nutshell, Rose corrected his mistakes. He started 2nd half with those he finished with. Played Harrison, Winder and Cusick most of the 2nd half. We kept care of the ball, implemented our zone (works better when you have better athletes implementing it), got stops and took care of the ball on offense. Helped that Iona got tired and probably a bit cocky. Iona also got in foul trouble.

Harrison happened. We played great D in the second half and Iona lost confidence, even missing on some gimme's. The guys just didn't give up, and they played in control on offense with Carlino out of the game. Not every possession was successful, but they didn't make stupid mistakes.

Exactly, they stopped with the lazy passes and the lazy D. I think harrison just earned a lot more playing time in the next game. My big hope is that Z has got his confidence back for shooting the 3. Rose is evidently going to keep playing him so hopefully the second half of this game will get him to shoot and make.

It's amazing what making baskets can do for you. When we went up to Gonzaga, without Hartsock being a factor, we held the Zags to like two FGs over 14 minutes. But we couldn't make shots on the other end to take advantage of the great defensive effort. Last night we made those shots. We could have beaten Gonzaga with a few more shots.

That shot of Zylstra after his clinching basket was one of pure joy - The kind of thing that college athletics is all about! I hope to see more of that today!
