BYU - WYO Game Thread

I'm really liking the play calling this game. And happy to see J.J. getting some big plays!

Both Coordinators have made some great adjustments.

I am surprised. I did not think that Wyoming was going to be this bad.

Wrubell is reporting Max Hall has (he believes) 6 games over 200 Passing Efficiency, if that's correct, that's a record at BYU.

Logan gets a great pick on BYU's latest defensive stand. They cannot get anything going.

8th offensive series sees Riley Nelson come in to replace Hall.



Nelson nearly makes a bad decision almost making a pitch WAY too late, but luckily he pulls it down. He follows that up with a great QB Draw following Kariya up the middle.



In the end, they end up settling for a FG after a false start penalty pushes BYU back from 2nd and goal from the 2.

After further review, apparently they don't let you kick field goals with 12 guys. BYU gets backed up and misses a 36 yard field goal.

Defense, getting some playing time for the backups holds Wyo again. Allowing 1 first down (I think) then a great pass break leads to a Wyo punt. BYU at their 17.

Nelson's 2nd time leading the offense ends up a little better with a draw going in for a touchdown, but it was almost much worse, as Nelson threw an ugly interception. The play was replayed however due to offsetting personal fouls before the interception.

That's two really bad luck plays for Wyoming. They ran a fake punt, and the officials blew an inadvertent whistle to stop the play. Then the double personal fouls negating the INT.



You could clearly hear someone shouting "Go back to Provo!" to the refs. I thought it was funny.

I hate seeing this! Love the win... BUT you don't have to stop trying do you??? Sure throw in the 2nd and 3rd stringers now but come on !!! Don't put out the fire, running the ball up the middle on 3rd and 11? Let Riley Nelson THROW the ball. he is a QB after all.

Defense pretty much assures the shutout with Craig Bills interception. BYU on Wyo 40 yard line.

I think they've called several pass plays, but Nelson is tucking it and running because he's not quite sure enough or confident.

We would have stopped it for sure. The fake was a shuffle pass, so the guy couldn't pass again, and there were too many defenders nearby to think he could have run to the first down.

Back to back shutouts of Wyo. First time in over 70 years.



MVP is Max Hall, passer rating of 270, 6th 200+ rating which ties Sark and Detmer.

True. I was thinking more along the lines of, now that play is on tape for other teams to see, and they didn't even get to really run it.

True. I was thinking more along the lines of, now that play is on tape for other teams to see, and they didn't even get to really run it.
