Where in the Constitution are marriage contracts addressed? It is a non-issue in any event. People only care about the economy. And the Romney and Obama economic plans are essentially the same.

What an insanely presumptive comment. I award you NO points...

Your source saying they are not the same is ... wait, wait let me see if I can figure it out ... Obama. You make it too easy.

Romney's plan calls for no decreases in current or future outlays of government spending. Obama's plan is the same. For specifics on why neither plan is likely to succeed see my last post in the other thread.

Back on topic in this thread. Oklahoma and Arizona have their state conventions this Saturday. We'll see if Romney can regroup from his previous state convention losses. In Oklahoma he's hired Santa's previous campaign chair in the effort. If he loses in Arizona, it will be bad - very bad for Romney. I expect Romney to win in Arizona but it will be close.

Oh the humanity! Ron Paul suspending his campaign!

But he's not suspending his campaign!! He's just focusing on a different strategy.....like Santorum...

You guys still believe the media. When will you ever learn? Ron Paul said he would stop with media buys and focus on "the state convention process . . . We will continue to take leadership positions and win delegates."

Ron Paul won 43-45 of 49 delegates in Oklahoma over the weekend. In Arizona Ron Paul won the CD5 delegates from Mesa, Chandler and Gilbert in the heart of Mormon Arizona by a landslide. They are recounting the ballots in Arizona for the at-large delegation because the machines they were using to count never tared correctly.

The same thing will happen this weekend in Minnesota, Michigan, Georgia, Mississippi, South Carolina, Vermont and Connecticut.

Sounds to me like this is a done deal. Ron Paul will be the republican nomination for President by a land slide.

He won't be able to hand-pick his VP nominee or set anything on the platform. Ron Paul people follow the law. If they are bound to vote for Romney they will.

Of course a Romney delegate from Utah in 2008 challenged the state rule binding delegates at the RNC convention and won. So who knows what will happen?

Good to see Paul encouraging his supporters to ignore the will of the people in their states in view of their enlighted positions that are more correct.

You apparently only read Ron Paul's first memo that went out yesterday about stopping TV buys, and failed to read the second memo that lays out his plan for the Tampa convention, and includes concessions such as this:

Unfortunately, barring something very unforeseen, our delegate total will not be

strong enough to win the nomination. Governor Romney is now within 200

delegates of securing the party’s nod. However, our delegates can still make a major

impact at the National Convention and beyond.

You must be reading too much MSM.

This second memo confirms the only rational interpretation of the first--Paul's gambit for the Presidency is all-but-over as he himself admits, and from here on out he is focused on adding planks to the GOP platform and getting some of the loons who follow him to calm the hell down so that their sophomoric behavior at conventions and campaign events doesn't harm all the progress Paul has made this campaign. Both memos are essentially calls for his supporters to dial back the lunacy to preserve what they've won and to prevent the movement becoming marginalized like the Occupyers have been.

Over the last weekend looks like Romney held serve.

Michigan - Ron Paul 7 vs Romney 21

Minnesota - Ron Paul 32 vs 5 undeclared

Mississippi - Ron Paul 0 vs Romney 37

Virginia - Ron Paul 17 vs Romney 16

Vermont - Ron Paul 4 vs Romney 10

No word out of SC or Georgia so most probably went to Romney.

Georgia is bound to Newt Gingrich but none of the RP guys made it as delegates so 68 delegates for the establishment.

Still not sure about SC though likely similar to Georgia.

Hmmm....

Real Clear Politics says Virginia has 49 delegates available. So are the remaining 16 for Romney so it's really Romney 32 and Paul 17? And it further states Virginia is a winner-take-all if the winner gets above 50% and since Romney got 59.5% I'm thinking your numbers are way off.

I going to go with Real Clear Politics over the Ron Paul propaganda.

There are an additional 80 delegates available tomorrow. I suspect Romney will be within 100 delegates of 1144. Romney will clinch the nomination next Tuesday when 155 are available in Texas.

Virginia has now finished their congressional district caucuses. The state convention selecting the remaining 13 at-large delegates is next month. The 80 delegates from Kentucky and Arkansas aren't chosen at the time of the beauty contest also known as a primary - they are chosen at the state convention. The Texas delegates will also be elected at their state convention, not next Tuesday. God bless the republic.

If you wish to educate yourself on the process the republican party uses to choose its candidate http://www.thegreenpapers.com/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; is a far better source than RCP.

If you wish to continue believing Ron Paul will be the nominee, please continue using the green papers as a source. If you wish to join the current electoral process, please look to other sources.

I don't think RP will be the nominee - I haven't since Iowa. It's a long shot at best but then anything can happen. Romney should be embarrassed he hasn't pulled things together to win with only 8 states left to go though.

And I do think Romney will have trouble selecting a palatable VP.

If Romney should be embarrassed how should Gingrich, Santorum, Paul and the others feel?

Paul is nothing more than a cult leader with an insane set of loyal followers, much like David Koresh, Sarah Palin, and Obama.
