MarsWould you agree to swap BYU's score against Oklahoma if you could then swap BYU's score against Florida State?
I'm pretty divided mentally over this question. That's why I'm asking it "out loud" to you guys...

I agree with Schmoe - if OU went on to win 10 or 11 games and end in the Top10, then yes. Otherwise, no, because we can always point to beating a #3 OU team in Dallas.

I truly believe that if Bradford hadn't gone down, OU would still have gone to a BCS bowl game this year. It certainly wouldn't have been the title game and they likely still would have lost to Texas but they probably wouldn't lost to any other teams but BYU and UT.
That is why BYU's losses are so frustrating. It isn't just that we lost to FSU and TCU, it was the way we lost to those teams... at home... after the way we beat OU to start the season. We saw the potential of this team and they didn't play anywhere near the same fire and intensity as I saw in that OU game.
So, my response is that I would rather have lost to OU, a team that though I believed we were capable of competing with (evidenced by the fact we won), I didn't expect to beat, than lose to a team in FSU (talented albeit bipolar and poorly coached) on our homefield by the margin we lost by. Thing is, I don't think the FSU game plan was all that impressive. So being so completely outcoached by a unimpressive opponent is pretty embarassing. TCU was another thing altogether. Their win was impressive even though I don't think it should have been by as much. I don't hesitate to say they were the better team this year and frankly I don't see anybody beating them, not even the mighty Gators, Tide or Longhorns.

This is what really frustrates me as a BYU fan. Why is it whenever BYU beats a highly ranked team at the beginning of the year that team always ends up sucking and all the BYU naysayers still don't give the Y any credit for beating a legitimate team?

I think we all have to admit, at this point OU has looked nothing like the #3 team. I know that's what they were ranked at the time, but rankings before you play a single down don't mean squat.
BYU was one point better than a 1/2 game with Bradford, OU squad. BYU really only beat a team that should have MAYBE been ranked 20-25. But it's always fun to think that BYU really did beat the #3.
