Greg Wrubell noted a few months ago when he printed the laws and conditions of admission to the BCS and it detailed that the process would not be expelling a current conference.

He's wrong. The BCS rules state requirements for 5-7 conferences to qualify. If they added the MWC, and we were enough above, say, both the ACC and the Big East, then BOTH of those conference could be dropped.

I have no interest in expansion if it means bringing in the likes of Fresno State and/or Nevada. These programs and their fanbases are the college football equivalent of the mullet.

Fresno State has better football attendance than the majority of the MWC, and Nevada has better basketball than the majority of the MWC. And I love Reno.

I immediately discredit this source when he begins to talk about a TV deal with ESPN in the works. I doubt ESPN is going to be buying out CBS's 12 year or so contract...

Most TV contracts are cancelled by expansion and then re-negotiated... at least that has been my understanding of past conferences' expansions.

Add BSU and Houston. Two top 25 teams. the third team is tricky.

It's been over 10 years since the Red Cougars have finished a season ranked in the Top 25... :bug:

The problem with just adding Boise State is that it gives you a 10 team conference, like the PAC10. That means you have 9 conf games each year, and only 3 OOC games.

Not necessarily. The PAC-10 voted to do this, and now they're talking about voting to change back. They realize what a huge mistake 9 conference games has been.

I'd love to pick up Boise since it would mean one more big game a year, but I don't like the idea of breaking up the conference into two divisions, even if it doesn't get us into the BCS (though of course I would want it to). I'd want to play Utah, TCU, Boise every year.

I certainly don't want to play TCU next year!

How does anybody love Reno?

Simple, if you live in Fallon or Winnemucca then you love Reno. ;)

Do NOT forget Battle Mountain and Lovelock too!

Funny, those teams would be my top 3 picks.

Anyone else find it at least a little "ironic" that we just happen to be playing Nevada next season... and that there will be several home/home series' beginning between Boise State and Utah/BYU in a couple years? Almost like foreshadowing...

I agree. These games will be conference games. I am with Mars on the Houston addition. I would be great to have another Texas team in the MWC, but Houston adds nothing. They have no fan base, and have not done much other than this year.

Nevada is not a great addition, but it makes sense geographically. I would almost prefer Hawaii over Nevada though. The travel costs are big, but adding the 13th game is a big deal when you play them there.

Fresno is a good addition. They have a big fanbase and routinely sell out there 40k plus stadium. They also have a pretty good national reputation with the media (who knows how, but they do). Media bias is more important than anything as far as getting an autobid and getting respect as a conference in my opionion....

The MWC exists because of expanding to so big, that rumor will never happen, BYU will leave the conference before that happens. To get an auto bid they could add someone or 2 more schools

Not as important as winning games on the field, sorry.

When has BYU ever been in an 11 or 12 team conference?

Never, as far as I know.

Ok this is how we do it. Add BSU and remove SDSU and Wyoming (I did not check but I think they are the bottom dwellers during the evaluation period). These schools volunteer to leave. Why? because once we get the AQ, they will invited back in. Without the bottom dwellers, we have it made with the number of ranked teams and the average team ranking is as good as the other conferences.

Would being in a 16-team conference qualify as being in an 11 or 12-team conference?

Is having triplets almost the same experience as having twins?

Well, considering having just one means never sleeping again, then from a lack-of-sleep perspective, yes. :P

Another reason not to add just BSU even if it means getting an automatic BCS bid:

Their fans will constantly remind the rest of the conference that the MWC only got its BCS bid because of BSU. The blue carpet and their fans are bad enough, but do we really want to give them than extra bragging right?

Personally, I'd rather see the MWC expand to 12 teams with the addition of Houston, Tulsa, and BSU. But only if it is on condition of getting an autobid to the BCS.
