As much as I like the sound of it, I'd be very surprised. I'm expecting a relatively low scoring game. I don't think either team gets over 21 points. And the one that gets that high likely wins.

By the way, opening line has BYU by 3 1/2 points.

I expect our offense to score as much as USU in regular time (no OT), and our D keeps the Yewts at 14 or below. Our D is that good and will probably be the difference maker in creating turnovers, getting us good field position and generally shutting down their O.

Yes. Utah may have a tough defense, but their offense is going to look like they did their first five possessions last year.



To refresh, in their first five possessions, Utah had a three and out and two turnovers. They had 13 rushes for 27 yards. They were 2 of 7 on 3rd & 4th down. Their PER was 101.06. They had seven first downs on those first five drives.



Their offense was completely stymied.



The rest of the game was a different story. Next Saturday, there won't be a "rest of the game." Utah's offense will not be successful against our 2012 defense. They will be turning the ball over and punting on multiple occasions.



- Another shot: Utah will punt 8 times or more.



BYU's offense is going to have multiple opportunities to put points on the board because Utah's offense is going to be so inept.

BYU won't score more then 30.



BYU will have a touchdown scored by either the defense or special teams.

I would agree with Spiff if Wynn was playing. He clearly can be rattled and is fragile. Hays is not fragile. IDK if he can be rattled. Luckily, he is at best a decent passer, if that. Certainly not a good one. Not a great one. He will likely have some success moving the ball with an excellent and proven RB even with an inexperienced OL.



BYU offense will look like they usually do vs a good defense.



Defense and Special Teams will win it.



BYU 10. Utah 7. And The Bibster Will Be Fully Satisfied With Any Y Win By Any Margin.

Riley still makes me nervous, especially against good, fast defenses. He has to show me that taking care of the ball matters to him. He still won't run out of bounds or throw a pass away. This is his first real test this year. The game is on him. Only way Utah wins is if we turn it over. Which ia squarely on #13.

Here's my 'shot'. My shot is I'll watch the whole thing as long as we're remotely in the game scorewise. I am petrified of the worst happening. I am tired of getting my hopes up and barely eeking out a lucky last second win or worse getting killed. Sorry. I'm almost too nervous to even watch.

Here's my shot. Score will be 20 to 10. Both teams will have a td scored by, or set up by, defense or special teams. Yewts get one other decent drive ending in a fg. White has less than 100 yards. Hays has less than 150 in the air. Hoffman has over 100 receiving and a td.

Ironically - nobody said a word about Hoffman fumbling. Because he makes plays and he try's to extend plays with YAC. Usually pays off. Occasionally does not.



See any inconsistency here relative to Riley who makes plays - makes things happen by extending plays. Sometimes you get Jacobsen running under it or a tight end catching it after a USU defender tips the ball and commits PI. Maybe he should have thrown those away or taken a sack. You cannot have your cake and eat it too.



Get the TCU game out of your craw. They were a very good team. Our special teams unit put us into several huge holes. And yes - Riley took huge risks trying to fight out of those holes. It is do easy to assume that BYU would have won if Riley just took a few more sacks.

Friel/Hoffman/Falsleve are Pitta/Collie/Reed in the making. Look for them to be the X-factor in the game with the Y factor being Wilson-Mahina/Apo/Kuresa-Ridley.

Our DBs will lock down Yewt WRs - no big plays.

Mendenhall will get in BJ's head with stunts/play of our front 7 and shut down the run.

Riley will lead us to victory a la C.K./USU - has similar talent, great motor and outstanding leadership.

This will be the first game against the U that I have missed since my mission back in 87-89. I will be on an airplane during the game for work related travel.



I will arrive at my hotel in time to find out BYU won 27-17. If the game goes long or into overtime, I may get to see the end. Let's hope there will be good reason to enjoy the delayed viewing on my DVR a few days later back at home.



I predict more than one Ute fan will be kicked out of the stadium for poor behavior. I predict more than one BYU fan will have beer on their shirt and someone's car will be vandalized.



There will be some good behavior from both teams players and fans, but that will get overshadowed by those few who spoil it for the masses.

Riley will make some spectacular mistakes, our O Line will suck, our RB's will be pedestrian at best. Our WR's will be great, but we will have at least one TD called back because of holding by Friel.



The D will be lights out, but it won't be enough. Once again, BYU will find a way to screw it up in the year that we should destroy them.

I hope you are two points and .02% off. It does not take a big swing to change a close race. And, even Northern Cougar agrees that it will be close.



It seems that a consensus is forming. Might I state it this way.



Saturday U and Y will have a close and hard fought game that could go either way. Ok - I realize that many are way more optimimistic. So I will call this the Doomsday Poster Consensus.
