They certainly woke up after getting obliterated by TCU. So, here's to another wake-up call.

I don't know that they ever woke up... they just happened to play Wyoming.... My mother could call up some friends and make it a close one against the Pokes from Laramie...

That would be nice if she could take the time off from the :utard: squad.

Under Bronco, the Cougars have averaged 184.5 yards rushing and allowed AF to run for 211.5 yards. If weather does play a factor and limit the passing game, I still don't think it will be enough for AF to win the game. I'm not worried about this game. We simply don't struggle to beat Air Force under Bronco. Average margin of victory: 19.5 with the closest game being 14 points. BYU wins 38-17.

Hmmm...Wyoming was tit-for-tat with Texas for three quarters, they played Utah to a single score, they played AFA within 10 points, and are probably going bowling this year. Why is it that our team takes all kinds of criticism when we play an opponent close, but gets no praise for murdering a decent team like Wyoming?

BYU doesn't schedule the games, the MWC schedules the conference games. All BYU can do is make a few request, ie, BYU and Utah request to play each other last, and that's usually granted. TCU generally requests to play BYU and Utah on Thursday night games (either not granted this year, or not requested).

Patterson actually hates the Thursday night games, and specifically demanded that TCU not play one this year. Which earned his team TWO College GameDay appearances.

Because not all fans are created equal. Some think they heard their doctor say that a little whine everyday might be good for their health.

Back to Air Force. Here's my main concern:

A- The Falcons have the #1 pass offense in the nation. Max Hall does poorly against great pass defenses, and our WRs really aren't a scary unit this season.

B- With two o-line starters (Alleto, Reynolds) hurt and Harvey Unga limping, our rush game was putrid against New Mexico (including the Kariya fumble), one of the worst defensive teams in the nation; we gained less than 2 yards per carry! Facing such a strong pass defense, not being able to run either is a very frightening thought.

Besides, TCU only beat these guys 20-17. That's 24 points better than Utah, and 28 points better than us.

I'll be curious to see what the line is in Vegas.

I agree Mars... and as for the murder wyoming bit...

- It was Texas' first or second game, and clearly they weren't banging on all cylinders...

- Playing AF within ten points isn't hard, as they take a million minutes to score, and give you only a few opportunites to answer back before the game clock expires...

- Utah straight up sucks on ice this year, so playing them to one score is actually a sign of weakness, not strength.

If WY didn't have the advent of a terribly weak conference, they wouldn't be close to bowling...

-It was Texas' 2nd game. That's a weak excuse though.

-It IS difficult to play TCU within 10 points, which was the point (see: BYU, Utah).

-Utah is 8-2, and ranked in the Top 25 (ahead of BYU in the BCS).

-Becoming bowl eligible in the MWC is respectable, as we are at least the 7th best conference in the nation every year.

Saying that the bottom of the MWC needs to improve is understandable. But calling the MWC "a terribly weak conference" is awfully close to Steed talk my friend. Repent, repent, lest the day of your trolldom quickly come to hand!

Well, Texas would absolutely murder WY any time after week 3 or 4 which is probably why they play patsies the first couple weeks. Look for OU to start doing the same :) ...

I was talking about playing USAFA within ten points... not TCU. Air Force rarely wins by more than 10, when matched up against similar talent.

Utah is the biggest fluke of the season. With all of our flaws, we will still take :utard: to the woodshed and beat them like the pukes they are...

Okay, I will repent and forsake my ways... the bottom and middle of the MWC conference need to improve. I am happy for WY going bowling. I really am... I want everyone but the Pukes to go bowling somewhere... but to use them as a "show" of our dominance is laughable... The reality is, WY is AT BEST an average team, and to strut around after a win like that only leads to problems (SEE: Last year)

Yeah, but it wouldn't hurt to say "hey, we played a complete game vs the Cowgirls and really showed that we can play ball. Good job cougs for playing well."

I didn't say anything wrong about the victory. I think it was a great game, and they played well. But to say that they are back, and yadda yadda is dangerous talk. Last year they shut the girls out, what? 52-0? We then go and get destroyed by TCU and lose to :utard: . I was just saying that I am not sure they are back yet, more than they were playing a bad WY team. Let's get this thread back on subject...

Air Force has scary upset potential.

After Wyoming, I was only mildly concerned about the Air Force game. Yes, they're good this year, but Bronco seems to have their number and with how well BYU played against Wyoming I expected a hard-earned win. But after the New Mexico game I'm suddenly very afraid of Air Force. They'd love to get a win against BYU and will give us their best game just like everyone else has. Does it not matter because BYU's defensive scheme is Air Force's silver bullet?

New Mexico has never been as good this year as they were yesterday and BYU managed to pull out the win anyway. Is NM playing at their very best any indication of how well we will fare against Air Force if they are playing their best?

I'm starting to worry that we don't get every teams best game when they play us, we just make it appear like they are playing their best game...

Sure, I think we should all assume that any team CAN beat us on any given Saturday (it's kinda the nature of college football), but we play assignment sound football and AFA doesn't have nearly the athletes that FSU had. I see us running away with this one.

I don't know about beating them soundly.

How do you explain them losing to TCU by a field goal?

Weather and the actual margin didn't reflect what the game really was. It got as cold as 10-15 degrees during this game. Air Force scored a touchdown with seconds left in the game following the third TCU turnover of the game. TCU had a 1-2 score lead the entire game.

Would your mother feel more comfortable on the O-line or in the defensive backfield? We could probably use her at either spot this weekend if she's available.... ;)

hahaha... Either one. We would just need to tell her that the qb is me, and I didn't do my homework or clean my room.

We could put my dad on the opposite side and tell him that I have decided to go to the :utard: . It would be three and out all night.

One thing that nobody has brought up in this anxiety filled thread is our apparent home field disadvantage this year. As was well chronicled in another thread, several of the players and possibly Bronco have stated that they like away games more than home games this year because of lower expectations, less pressure, more focus etc. Does this become a contributing factor against the Falcons, or heaven forbid the stinky :utard: ? Both the finishing games are at home, which (and I can't believe that I'm saying this about beloved LES) may not be a particular advantage this year? :skeptic: Does that contribute to the other factors playing into this game?

Nice board by the way. I had stopped going to CB at all over the last few months because of how bad it had become, so I'm glad to find this place - a breath of fresh air.

welcome welcome...

Very well stated. I am sorry, but if you are so ego-inflated that you can't stand a few boos when you are getting absolutely vanquished in your own house, making bad calls, getting egged (i'll use marshmallows next time so I don't hurt your feel-goods, ok?) then you have no business coaching D-1 football. Take the vacant job at UNLV or SDSU where people don't care about the program, and are just waiting for basketball season.

I still think it's totally base, classless, and ignorant to boo our team who has played so well for four years in a row. To boo college kids who are obviously working very hard and have given us so much to smile about (especially at home) is the kind of douchebaggery I would only expect from fairweather fans who didn't even know what BYU football was during the last of the Edwards era and all of the Crowton years. Not to mention that TCU looks like the best team in the country this year and it seemed that most, if not all, of the booing stopped early in the third quarter after all the entitled, spoiled-little-princess, bratty fans left.
