Jay Drew article on OL

I'm happy to see the media jumping all over this. I didn't hear anything in the article but pathetic excuses. If what they say is true, then what was their excuse for last leason when they had the experience. To borrow a Bronco-'n phrase, the OL has not come close to executing at a higher level and the coaching has not been there. As a fan, I'm kind of tired of it.

Weber has to go. His line has been the under performing unit several years in a row and each year we are told measures are being made to improve.



No excuses. Not being prepared is Weber's fault.



Glad the problem is being recognized, but it's time to point some fingers and let some heads roll.

First off, the title makes no sense. The BYU line was not much hyped. 2011 was, 2012 was not. In fact, it has been a cause for concerne since the 2011 season by coaches and fans alike. None practiced in spring, and we worried in fall as well. So I would not call them hyped at all this year.



Second, Weber needs to be more combative with this group. THis whole "building" a line needs to go. Time to force improvement or sit guys down. Should have done that last year too.



Glad to see some personnel changes are being made. Moving Braden Hansen to center and putting Famika Anae in at guard is good. BE curisous to see which Guard side he plays on. Strigham was right side Hansen left, so I assume Anae is playing left guard next to Mathews now. If so, I like our left side for the running game. Our best runs have come off the tackles, and Anae is a good run blocker. His struggles were with pass blocking when I have seen him play. But he has a mean streak and is a nasty player, something we have lacked for many years. Anae likes to mix it up.

Clearly Mark Weber saw me talking about Anae being one of our best OL and how he should be playing.

If there is any shake up to be made it should start 1. Mark Weber. Byu recruits very well at the OL position. No excuses.

2. Need a good QB coach

3. OC

4. Head Coach.

The utes have exposed Bronco's weakness at HC every year since he been the HC. Byu used to be known as the team that "did more with less". Now it is the Cougars who " do less with more". Starts with the coaches... a shake up is needed.
