This is one of those times where it is better to be silent than to speak out like a fool. Human life > Games of sport.

Jay Drew looking at the schedules and after hearing from Rose that the game won't be played next week, believes the game will not be played this season.

I saw some other individuals posting that they had flown into town with their families for the game. It still seems wrong to me to cancel the game. Manti Te'o played a game the day of his girlfriend's funeral (which actually to me seems awful insensitive) and all the nation has slapped him on the back for such dedication. Dicky V couldn't have gushed over Te'o any more than he did at last week's ND vs Kentucy BB game. Is there anything more important than Danny Berger's recovery? Certainly not.

It begs the question, if the game isn't played in Provo this year, then we sure as heck better get next years game moved to Provo. I would not return to Logan without the Aggies first coming to Provo.

Yeah Mars, like that was really a "silent" comment.

Love a guy who sees the humor in what is said when it was intended that way.

Danny Berger actually died on the practice court. Was dead for however long. It was so bad that the hospital in Logan couldn't handle the situation. This was a no-brainer to cancel the game.

glad he's doing better. Good move by BYU to move the game. Is USU BYU the hardest game of all time to get scheduled? Always some sort of a hangup.

I really enjoyed the article at ESPN...

http://espn.go.com/mens-college-basketball/story/_/id/8713769/utah-state-aggies-brigham-young-cougars-game-postponed-danny-berger-collapses" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

"Even BYU's basketball team sent its thoughts and prayers to Berger through a Twitter post, as did Saint Mary's, which beat the Aggies earlier this year."

It was good press and it made me realize that our long-time opponent asked us to postpone the game and it was the right thing to do to honor such a request. I like classiness when I see it in sports.

If this were Facebook I'd "Like" this post.

I hope the game can be rescheduled.

For the first time in a long time I am somewhat optimistic for Utah basketball. I hope Saturday is a good one!

Despite my earlier post, I do agree that it was the right thing to do. It's not what I would have done, but I recognize the fact that I'm not yet perfect.

There is a very strong possibility that this game will not be played this year. There really is no other time available on the schedule that makes sense for this game to be played. I don't know if that will help or hurt us in the long run, as it's a game BYU ought to have won, even with their struggles this year.

This also tells me that much like Bronco, Dave Rose does not consider his sport first, in fact, it looks like it's about fifth as well. Again, another link between the two teams.

But most of all, I really hope for a speedy recovery for Danny Berger.

Not that this has anything to do with why BYU cancelled the game, but I have a feeling the next time BYU and USU meet, if it's not this year, their fans will hate BYU with as much vitriol as before.

Yep, I guess they will.

We did play USU twice in one year within the decade. I would be okay with that setup next year in our non-conference schedule buy I absolutely will have a fit if a game with USU coming to Provo doesn't happen before we meet them again in Logan. They OWE us that much.

To be fair, you are getting pretty close though.

Ha ha ha..I'm laughing at this exchange, and yet, I'm not really sure exactly what is going on here.

I will admit my own bromance/man crush toward both of you classy posters on this site. While you might not share my love for the other teams that I follow (Coach of the year, James Franklin at Vandy, anyone?) perfection is not too far off.

I do know that this is the first time ever that Vandy is going to a bowl game for the second season in a row.

Now that I've reached the point of agreeing that this game should have been cancelled, it seems a bit "fishy" that thus far BYU and USU have not found a date that would work between them. You lay the schedules out and say, can we do it this day or that? If it is no, then you actually arrive at the words, "Hmm...it appears we cannot play the game this season.

I feel a little shaky calling out Morrill out on ALL the reasons I think he had for cancelling the game, but I find it hard not to think the same thought that Mark Durrant tweeted:

"It was right to postpone the game, but if you think Morrill will go out of his way to reschedule a likely road loss, you are delusional."

Agreed. Cancelling the game was understandable and likely the correct call. But I heartily agree with Durrant. Morrill wants to play as few games outside of Logan as possible. A chance to get out of a game in Provo - especially when he feels slighted by BYU and having to play too many games in Provo - is something he would likely very much approve of.

It is also the second time Vandy has beat Tennessee in like, 25 years or something. The other was during the Jay Cutler days, I believe fall of 2005. Tennessee has a special place in my heart, kind of the same spot as the U. It's seriously a toss-up between these two for most awful fans on the planet. Sidenote: Gordon Gee was in my ward while I lived in Nashville. It was cool to know the chancellor, even if his wife liked to smoke a little pot once in awhile at the Vanderbilt mansion...
