Let'r rip. No right or wrong answers - unless you pick Natural Born Killers - one of the worst movies ever made.
Okay, here it is, TVRC's top ten movies, in no particular order.
1. Holes. I love how Jon Voigt's character is named "Mr. Sir." Gus from "psyc" also has a role.
2. The Matrix.
3. The Jazz Singer. The scene where Neil Diamond sings "hello again" is pure inspiration.
4. Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan. The final scene where Spock sacrifices himself to save the ship always makes me cry. It's ridiculous, but it just pulls on the right emotional strings for some reason. My wife openly makes fun of me for it, and I have to just put up with it.
5. Dan in Real Life. If you haven't heard of this one, you should definitely see it. It has Steve Carrell and Dane Cook in "serious" roles (well, mostly serious) and is an all around feel good movie. I now have Pete Townsend's "Let my love open the door" on my ipod.
6. The Bourne Series. Haven't seen the new one yet, but I heard it's good.
7. Mamma Mia. Okay, I have no shame and I am totally comfortable with my masculinity as I post this. I am fully prepared to be made fun of. Do you worst. I totally sandwiched this one between two completely unrelated movies, hooray for eclecticism.
8. Empire Strikes Back. The personal growth that occurs between Luke and Yoda is awesome. There's also a new exoplanet that scientists have found that really sounds a lot like Hoth.
9. Braveheart. This one came out while I was in high school and I subsequently taught myself how to play the bagpipes.
10. Enemy at the Gates. Like many others on CC, I'm sure there are war and history buffs. I had no idea about the Eastern Front of WWII prior to seeing this, but subsequently read lots of other material and learned about it. I imagine one day we will see a movie about the 900 day siege of Leningrad. 900 freakin days. I also have a bucket list item to go and see the world's largest statue (at least, as of 1967), which stands on the easternmost point where the Nazis advanced into Stalingrad/Volgograd. Pretty cool to have a statue that is calling defenders from the east to drive back the Nazi invasion. Here's some more info: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mamayev_Kurgan
