Southwind has 3 of their own D1 recruits. Missouri, Marquette and the other is undecided.

On to the championship game; win or lose Lone Peak has sent a nation wide message about the future of BYU hoops.

Eric Mika won the dunk contest btw - crazy considering all the top recruits in the field.

Just got back from my 2nd day at City of Palms. Once again, Lone Peak was extremely impressive. On Thursday they jumped out to a lead immediately, but tonight was not the case. 6'10 Jonathon Williams III (Missouri) hit a 3 to start and then blocked a shot right off the bat. He started off hot in the first few minutes and then Jajuan Johnson came off the bench (Memphis) and scored a quick 9 points. Lone Peak was down 19-14 after 1, but closed it to 31-30 at the half. Haws had 9 on three 3's, Emery had 7, and Mika had 5. Tulson and Shumway played well to start. The start of the 2nd half was similiar to Thursday. Haws went off and scored 13 points in the 3rd quarter while Southwind cooled off. LP took a 54-43 lead into the 4th and LP put a complete effort together to finish them off by 15. Southwind's athleticism posed problems in the first half, but there was no way they were going to keep shooting the ball like that.

The game against Montverde should be real real interesting. I can see Mika matching up with Dakari along with Emery vs hill and haws vs. russell. I think Russell's length could cause Haws some problems. The X-Factor will be big man Devin Williams. This kid is a beast down low and I'm not sure how LP will guard him. That being said, I've never seen a team move the ball and run an offense like LP. So fun to watch and I will be rooting for them in the future.

Other notes, Mika won the dunk contest even though he took about 10 minutes trying to get a teammate to Pele flip him the ball.

Thanks for the details and update. Please keep them coming.

I really don't think folks realize what a cool and amazing thing LP is.

Only after the pipeline dries up. But interesting suggestion. Have the players/boosters/affluent Alpine parents/talent pool made the coach or has the coach built the program?

Montverde's length and size was too much for LP to overcome last night in the championship. While LP has destroyed other athletic teams they hadn't played a team like this that was also just as well coached. Kasey Hill guarded Nick Emery and DeAngelo Russell guarded Haws. Russell is about 6'5" with the longest arms you could imagine. LP was pressing at the beginning as it was hard to get open looks. Haws had 7 in the first half and Emery had 5. Montverde barely missed from the perimeter and pounded it down low to PF Devin Williams (WVU). LP was down 39-22 at the half but fought back in the 3rd and won the quarter 10-4. Mika didn't receive many touches and when he did was swarmed with defenders. Despite the loss, I really enjoyed watching LP play. I saw them play in AAU and in Chicago and to me its amazing that a public school can have so much talent. Looking forward to see how they do in the future. I can guarantee a lot of coaches won't want to play byu in the future. Also, Connor Toolson was impressive. Is he getting any looks?

I wonder if Lone Peak team out of steam having to play several games in consecutive days. Throw in a slam dunk and the point contest, and I wonder how much energy they had for the last game.
