Will BYU Reach 20 Regular Season Wins in 2012/2013 Season?

Yeah you did. But it's okay as someone on CC has to be the fall guy for the shortcomings of everything BYU athletics, and it might as well be "the Bibster" playing the part ;)

Yes - I have watched the basketball team. I have watched them lose badly on the road to unranked teams - consistently. Team sucked early. They are improving. Hopefully that continues - especially road games.



Until recently, we only had 2 solid starters. Now we might have 4 if consistency is proven.



5th starter is a coin toss. Hopefullt someone steps up.

I am going to assumr that you did not read the title of this thread carefully. Flirt with 30 Regular Season wins. That was not mathematically possible since we had won 10 and only had 17 to go. So lets assume that if you paid better attention to details, you would havesaid 30 including tournament games.



Even then. Nada. Missed it a mile again.

Bib, I know I can be confusing at times, but this is a mass of confusion. What are you even talking about? Your title said 20, not 30. On second thought, don't worry about responding.

Seems like your intent was to question whether this team wold get to 20. Blue called you out and then you went into backpedal mode.

There was never much doubt in most when you started this thread that BYU would get to 20, notwithstanding this late season slumping.

But Rose made it. Wish he could pull of 25, but that does not look likely at all.

Craig O predicted over 20 but no tourney. Spot on. I posted that I agreed - but said barely 20. I created the OP because I expected it to be this close.



Then Blue, in the post I quoted predicted 25 easily and flirting with 30. He was off by a mile, don't you think. Especially for someone who so arrogantly cast aside 20 wins as being ridiculous.

This one got answered. I predicted yes, but barely. Some thought it was a ridiculous question. I will probably ask the same question next year - and predict IDK - could fall short by 1 or 2 games.

Bib, you lost this argument, so just shut it. Blue is better than you in Bball most times and certainly in this Thread. His prediction was very close to spot on. We are at 25 wins and had the team gelled completely and foul trouble averted, who knows. This team is now showing what it WAS and Is capable of. So, Drop it before you look dumb and dumber.

The prediction thread was for REGULAR SEASON wins. The regular season has been over. BYU got 21 wins. I predicted, "they would reach 20, but barely"



You need to dig a little deeper in your assessment of who did and did not call it correctly. You cannot rewrite history. The facts are right there. Note that REGULAR SEASON was right in the rhread title.



In another early thread, you will note that I was one of a tiny minority that voted "NO" on BYU making the tourney. You cannot rewrite that history either.



You will also note that I was not the one bagging on Zylstra. You will nite that I actually compkimented him as a role player.



You may note that unlike Blue is, I have never called for Davies to be benched or posted that I wished he had never rejoined the team.



I will stop there, but I certainly do not need you or Blue is to tell me what I know about basketball - especially BYU basketball.



This team was not good enough to play our game vs decent teams early in the year and Carlino sucking with no viable replacement was the reason.



We had 2 starters early. Period. Then experience and memos to Carlino got us to 2 1/2. More experience, memos, and REST got us to 3 starters and Carlino lifted Zylstra and Austin enough to get us to 5 starters. Now we are pretty good. Let's hope Baylor does not figure out how to take us out of our game again. They will absolutely try to do so.

BYU underperformed as evidence by a universal agreement that they are playing far better and up to their potential in the NIT.

Craig O made a case in the Baylor thread that - putting words in his mouth re interpretation - It is not as simple as "just run and BYU wins". He mentions that a strong - fast - athletic point guard can take Carlini out of his game and disrupt the flow". He also mentions that a team with length can take Zylstra out of his game. Zylstra hits wide open shots taken in the flow of the offense on attack. Not so much with long arms in his face. Can impact his rebounding as well.



Part of the semantics is that trying to run looks diffetent when a team is powerless to stop you than it looks when teams are better able to defend it.



Earlier - good teams were doing exactly what Craig says.



The interesting thing to watch will be whether Baylor can still do it or if BYU has in fact learned something significant and improved too much for Baylor to do that again.



Baylor shooters arw streaky. Hopefully we can defend well.



I expect BYU to compete better this time. How much better?



IDK. They are exceeding my NIT expectations. Will they continue? IDK.
