I gave a B-. I like Rose a lot, but we lost too many games when we had double digit leads in the 2nd half. We had potential--tied with gonzaga with less than 4:00 minutes to go.

Losing Collinsworth & Rogers was a setback. Didn't realize how much we missed Noah Hartsock.

B- .

He made some dumb non-decisions before the season started to let 2 injury prone players that hadn't really even played in two seasons dictate the direction of the program.

Then, he committed to a lineup that wasn't sustainable and didn't put his players in the best chance to win. He did try about a zillion lineup changes this year, so he was trying, but he couldn't see that Cusick and Zylstra were the cause of the defensive woes, and bring virtually nothing to the offensive side of the ball. Calvert should have played more, a lot more (And this is coming from someone who really likes Carlino at the point). He and Carlino were the best backcourt that we saw all year.

I think he is a good coach, but I think that he has to take a SERIOUS look at:

#1 who this team is, and who he wants it to be. We aren't offensive, defensive, or run and gun, or anything. We have no idea what we are doing in zone or on the offensive side, and he doesn't hold anyone on the team accountable for their actions besides Carlino and the occasional Zylstra yank. Everyone else is untouchable. I don't get it.

#2 Take a serious look at his assistants. I don't know what it is that they are doing, but it isn't teaching defense, and it isn't teaching the offense plays to run.

The only thing that looked good about BYU this year were the inbounds plays. Everything else was bush league.

Weren't Cusick and Zylstra #1 and #2 on the team in 3-point shooting this year?

But it isn't about who can make a wide open shot... at least not when you have zero movement on the offensive side of the ball, and are giving up wide open 3 pointers at a prolific rate on the other side of the court.

The Zylstra-Cusick side was open all game, and some teams took advantage of it. I don't have time to look up the stats (maybe spiff would find this as a fun new project for him), but I am sure that other teams shot (and at least some of those teams, made) more 3 pointers on the year than against their normal averages.
