How about forcing the teams to have dinner together ...

I literally laughed out loud. "Eat this, darn you! Chew! Swallow! Smile!"

Quick question: Will they have to hold hands the whole time or have a group hug afterward?

How about we all realize it's a game, Max said words, beer washes out, and we move on (with greater police presence at the games, of course.)

Well, the food fight would be worthy of Hollywood!

All I know is that if the 2 schools want to make this better, it falls on Bronco and Coach Whit. Coach Mac and Coach Edwards did a great job of making it fun and classy. They set the tone. Just as in hoops, coach Rose and the Coach Boylen show healthy respect for each other. Boylen was great after coach Rose's cancer scare, and I respect that. Not sure Coach Whit would want to, but he did ride Harley's with Bronco for charity, so given the right forum, these guys could do much to improve relations in the public. It needs to happen before a real crowd incident occurs, and it is not far away and well know it.

I don't think he did. I think the story was that Bronco, feeling magnanimous, had his motorcycle guy call up Kyle with a deal on a bike.

I applaud Hall. We all make mistakes and do dumb things. It takes a man to own up to a mistake and that is what Hall did in my book...Now the Utah and BYU Administrations need to own up to the fact that they have failed to address the fact that there are some really bad fans out there and there are steps that need taking to mitigate the problems that sour what is otherwise a great great rivialry. There are things that can be done. There are things that can be explored. How about forcing the teams to have dinner together or better collectively serving dinner to less fortunate the week before the game? But first the Administrations need to fess up that they have dropped the ball and when that happens generally things go to the lowest common denominator....

It really felt like it was when Urban came in he really fueled up the rivalry as a motivational tool. I think it's for reasons like this that I'm glad that Bronco doesn't preach 'hate your opponent' like some advocate.

I think this is exactly what happened. Meyer came in and used the rivalry for fuel and at the same time fueled the :utard: fans who are just trash. It really turned everything up a notch.

The problem started with Urban Meyer and Gary Crowton, two coaches that didn't give a hoot about character or sportsmanship. They both used the rivalry as fuel for the motivational fire, trying to squeeze as much hate out of the players as possible. The two current coaches obviously aren't fond of each other, but they need to do something to get the rivalry back to where it was when Mac and Lavell were here. RES also needs to put a muzzle on some of their fans, taking away gross and inappropriate signs, etc.

I'd prefer Utah to continue to act like they have. The vast difference in talent that the Cougs are bringing in the last 2 recruiting classes is immense and eventually we'll start pounding the U like back in the 80s.
