Payton Dastrup to BYU

That's awesome news........Does Rose talk him into playing a year before going on his mission?? He could replace Sharp for Sharp's senior year........sad but might be needed

If he wants to serve - just as well get er done now. Either way is fine.

It sounds like Dastrup will go on a mission but Ryan Andrus will play next year.

I honestly wouldn't be surprised if Ohio State called him up and had a conversation that went something like this:

OSU: We're really looking forward to seeing you next season.

PD: Sorry coach, but I'm 'taking my mission trip', remember?

OSU: Yeah, about that... We're really looking forward to seeing you next season...

PD: ...

Now, I'm not saying it happened, just that I wouldn't be surprised.

I doubt that. I also doubt that they encouraged a mission either.

Now that these kids can go straight away at 18, it is less challenging for other schools to manage around it. Much tougher with start. Play a year. Go mission. Come back.

If you have several missionaries, you have someone coming back fill the slot for the guy leaving. But managing around 1 guy is harder.

Now it is simpler - even for BYU.
