That's a critical stat. While those teams may not have shot well from a percentage standpoint, they took more than they normally do and made more than they normally do.

This could indicate two things:

1) Post defense was so good all that was available were 3 point shots. BYU likes to play the zone, so an increase in the number of 3 point shots makes sense as teams may have found it difficult to attack the middle.

2) Our perimeter left the 3 point shot open. If it's open take it. Teams took an above average number of threes against us because they've never gotten so many good looks from the 3 as with us.

I'm inclined to think it's a combination of the two.

if they were good looks, they would have made a higher percentage of them.

Not necessarily. Depends on how good of a shooter the player is. I get some great open looks when playing church ball, but still miss most of them.

It is the same team of shooters that made the season average. If we give more % of good looks they should hit a higher % of the shots. The problem is rebounds and uncontested 2nd chances since half of our guts already headed down court.

Every time I type in Gonzaga, my autocorrect changes it to gonads. This brings me great joy. I do it over and over again. I am 42.

I will be at the Portland game tonight. ABout 5 rows behind Greg Wrubell. If attendance is anything like the last few years we will have more fans than Portland. It's kind of fun to do the B Y U Cougars yell in their building.

My favorite when visiting opposing gyms is to do a Left-Right chant when someone on the opposing team fouls out. :)

Left right is kind of classless. But it's about as wild as fans get.

I don't think the left-right chant is classless, but the "hey, hey, gooooooood bye" is the one I hate and think is classless. Makes me cringe every time our fans start doing it.

Joe Lunardi has us into the tournament with a win vs Gonzaga tonight. I think we win this one, all we need is for three-four players to show up instead of just two.
