Too bad that we end up judging how the administration handles a situation more critically than the person who made the mistake or broke the law.

Are you saying we should be "judging" the players and mistakes more than the administration office? :skeptic:

It's none of my business what Jamal Williams does on the weekend nor the mistakes he makes. I've certainly made plenty in my life and wouldn't want them aired out on the national news.

We also live in a country where one is innocent till proven guilty. Williams has said he's innocent. Let the courts judge whether he is or isn't. And even then, you won't see me picking up any stones for a minor mistake a teenager made in his youth.

Looks like the only one being critical of the way the administration handled it is Bib himself, seems like most people who aren't paid to stir up trouble (reporters) think that this was handled quite well.

National sources reported that JW and one more passenger were in a car being driven by a designated sober driver. They claim JW blew a 1.2 blood alcohol and was arrested and released without bail.

Check your sources. Anyone who blows over .40, well they aren't because they're pretty much dead. And since he pled not guilty, well, then who are we to know at this time? Lay off

It is being aired out because it happened. It was aired out before BYU said one word. BYU has still not said one word that is not public record information already reported by local, state, and national news. And so it should be. I would just prefer that Bronco state "no comment" when reporters pressed for more details instead of sarcastically stating that he does not remember when or where he heard it. The interview was awkward. I hate to criticize that, because there is no perfect way to handle these situations.

The kid down the street would end up in the same news blotter in the Daily Herald. But for most of us would go unoticed. Being famous comes at a price.

Fair critique of Bronco. Though, as a PR guy, one of the first rules is not to say "No comment." Journalists take that to mean you're hiding something and it's an open invitation to keep digging.

Bronco needs some PR coaching, no question. He should have come prepared with responses. Something like, "I don't recall exactly. But it's been cleared up on our end and Jamaal is in good standing with BYU and team." When pressed more, he should have just repeated the same statement. This signals to the reporter that they aren't going to get anything else out of him on the topic and it's a better response than "No comment."
